Design of backdoor
Design of Back door of the Car By Using Nx cad
Objective :
To Design the Car Back Door by Using given Styling Surface Method using Nx cad.
Introduction :
Design of back door is also called as the Tail gate. A car back door which is consist of Inner panel, Outer panel. Basically the car parts are made of Steel or Aluminium based on the budget of the car. The backdoor has a lot of components inside and is designed to incorporate them easily. It affects the rear visibility and luggage area.
Parts and Reinforcements:
The backdoor consists of the following basic components:
-
Backdoor Outer Panel (Upper)
-
Backdoor Outer Panel (Lower)
-
Backdoor Inner Panel
-
Hinge Reinforcements
-
Gas-Stay Reinforcements
-
Wiper motor Reinforcement

INNER PANEL DESIGN:

Tool Direction:

Emboss:
Sheet metal embossing is a stamping process for producing raised or sunken design or relief in sheet metal. This process can be made by means of matched male and female roller dies or by passing sheet or a strip of metal between rolls of the desired pattern. Embossing is done by pressing a sheet of par=per in to female die, That has a design etched into it. This is usually done with a male counter part underneath the paper so that the two and the design is transferred to the paper.
OUTER PANEL DESIGN:

OUTER PANEL (Upper portion):

OUTER PANEL (Lower portion):

REINFORECEMENT:

HINGE REINFORECEMENT:
Hinges are used to operate the doors in many systems like doors of houses, automobile doors etc. It facilitates the opening and closing of any type rotating doors. Generally, door hinges are either welded or fixed with Nut- bolt system to the doors and to the body of the system. They get permanently attached to the door and cannot be removed easily whenever desired.

WIPER MOTOR REINFORCEMENT:
The wiper motor is one part of the wiper system that is useful for moving the wiper automatically. The commonly used wiper motor utilizes a magnet with a reduction gear. There are at least 2 types of wiper motors that can cause magnetic fields, namely the ferrite magnet type which uses permanent magnet ferrite, and the wound rotor type which uses a coil to produce an electromagnet.

GAS STAY REINFORCEMENT:
“Hinge” is a device used to position the door relative to the body structure and control the path of the door swing for passenger ingress and egress. Gas Stay type backdoor is an ideal and most commonly used tailgate mechanism from lower segment car to luxury car segment.

LATCH AND STRIKER REINFORCEMENT:
A rod connects the actuator to the latch, and another rod connects the latch to the knob that sticks up out of the top of the door. When the actuator moves the latch up, it connects the outside door handle to the opening mechanism. When the latch is down, the outside door handle is disconnected from the mechanism so that it cannot be opened.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
The Draft Analysis allows the user to easily analyze a part for proper draft angle. A Draft Angle describes the amount of taper for molded or cast parts perpendicular to the parting line.

HEMMING AND RELIEF:
Hemming is a sheet metal forming process in which sheets are joined by bending it to 180°. Automotive body panels and automotive parts such as deck-lids, trunk-lids, doors, hoods and tailgates are formed by hemming process. In this process, usually a sheet is bent with the help of inner sheet in three different stages.

CORNER RELIEF:
A small relief in the corner allows the edges of the bends to come together tightly. Not all bends require relief. For example a bend along the full width of a part. There’s no flat material out at the edges of the bend.

Conclusion:
The design of the Back door was completed with the engineering standard and all the reinforcements.
