Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

Challenge 10: Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

1) Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

Answer:

Aim: To create a set of sinusodial points and create a surface of the curve.

Procedure:

Open Revit software -> New -> Architecture template -> Go to the manage tab click -> open DYNAMO

TO CREATE SINOSOIDAL POINTS

Go to the search option -> type integer -> select integer slider -> three interger slider we need so copy and paste -> Now we have 3 interger slider.

set 1st integer slider to 12

set 2nd integer slider to 650 &

set 3rd integer slider to 10

Insearch box -> type range -> will get start, end, stepup -> then connect 1st point of integer slider to start -> 2nd integer slider to end and 3rd integer slider to stepup.

In search box -> type point.by.coordinates -> select (x, y, z) coordinates. copy it to two

Insearch box -> type math.sin -> enter

Now, connect range -> list -> to the x (points.by coordinates)

Insearch box -> type product * -> enter

Insearc box -> code block -> enter

Connect code block to Z (points.by coordinates)

Now, we will get another set of sinusoidal points

connect math.sin(double) to Y (points.by coordinates)

conncet math.sin(double) to x (of product)

connect code block to Y (product *)

Finally product (*) varient to z (points.by coordinates of 1st)

This creates the sinusoidal points.

TO CREATE SINOSOIDAL CURVE

In search box -> type -> nurbscurve (by control points) copy it we need two nurbscurve

In search box -> type -> list (list create items)

now, connect -> points.by coordinates 1 -> to points(nurbscurve 1)

connect -> points.by coordinates 2 to -> to points (nurbscurve 2)

Inlist create -> just click + button to add on items i.e item0, item1, item2

connect -> nurbscurve 1 -> to item0

connect -> nurbscurve 2 -> to item1

This created the curve

TO CREATE SURFACE

Insearch -> type -> surface.by loft(crosssection)

connect -> list -> to the cross section

Wil get the surface

Result: The set of sinusodial points and create a surface of the curve is created and shown below.

Assign the value as 100 to both the integer slider.

In search box type points.by coordinates copy and paste to three times we need four points.by coordinates.

now, connect the first integer slider to first x

connect the first integer slider to second y

connect the second integer slider to second x

connect the second integer slider to third y

Insearch box type line by start point end point copy and paste to three times we need four line by start point end point.

connect 1st point to 1st start point

connect 2nd point to 1st end point

connect 2nd point to 2nd start point

connect 3rd point to 2nd end point

connect 1st point to 4th end point

connect 3rd point to 3rd start point

connect 4th point to 3rd end point

connect 4th point to 4th start point

cross check in default 3D view in REVIT

TO MAKE WALL

Insearch box list create drop down to 4iteams

item0 connect line 1 to item0

item1 connect line 2 to item1

item2 connect line 3 to item2

item3 connect line 4 to item3

TO SET LEVELS

In search box type levels - (level 1)

In search box type wall types - (Generic 12")

In search box integer slider (10)

In search box wallby curves and height

connect list to curve

connect level to level

connect wall types to wall type

connect integer slider to height

cross check in default 3D view in REVIT

TO CREATE FLOOR

In search box type floor types

In search box type floor.by outline type and level

connect list to the outline curves

choose the floor types as generic 12"

connect levels as level

cross check in default 3D view in REVIT

Result: The conceptual layout floor plan is created and wall type, height, length parameters is provided as shown below.

3) Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block

Answer:

Aim: To create any element and select the elements, do array of that model element by using slider or code block

Procedure:

Open Revit -> New -> Architectural Template -> ok

click on Architecture -> column -> architectural column place in (four columns in revit screen)

Now, open the dynamo

In search box type model elements( multiple option)

In search box type set rotation (family instances set rotation)

In search box type integer slider ( for assinging the angles)

Firstly, select the model element from revit

click on select -> open revit -> and select all four column -> it will gets selected in Dynamo.

Now, fix the rotation angle 45, in the integer slider

connect the elements to family instance

connect the integer slider to the degree

cross check in default 3D view in REVIT

Result: The element(columns) created and selected in the model element in dynamo.

Revit Result:

4) Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column

Answer:

Aim: To create conceptual mass in revit and also to create form and apply them in the property called triangular bent.

Procedure:

TO CREATE CONCEPTUAL MASS

Open revit software -> New -> Architectural Template -> go to file -> new -> click on conceptual mass -> click on metric mass -> click on open.

Go to the elevation -> click on level 1 -> pick line option -> offset value 12'

Go to the floor plan -> click on create -> click on the model -> choose the spline option -> draw a S shape -> press enter.

Go to 3D view -> click on set option and click on all four points -> click show option ( clicking each time individually)

Choose a ploygon -> place on set sheet at distance 12'( because our elevation height is 12') -> place to all four points.

TO MAKE CREATED SPLINE AS FORM

Just click on the spline curve -> click on the option create form (solid form)

TO DIVIDE THE FORM

Select the solid spline -> click on filter option -> a dialog box will open -> untick line (mass) and reference planes i.e choose only form option -> click ok

TO APPLY TRIANGLE BENT PROPERTY

select the solid -> click on divide surface -> choose the pattern property as triangular bent

Result: conceptual mass in revit and also to create form and apply them in the property called triangular bent is created.
