Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo
1) Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.
Solution:
- Open Revit New File.
- Go to Manage Tab and click on Dynamo.
- Select New in the Dynamo.
- insert the Integer Slider.
- Making three integer Slider.
- Copy the First one and paste it 2 times.
- Enter the values in the slider.
- Enter the Range.
- Connect the three values respectively.
- create point by coordinate.
- Copy it make one more.
- Make a code block.
- create math.sin .
- making connection.
- create product.
- Create the connection.
- Create the nurb by control points.
- Copy it again.
- Create list.
- make the connection.
- create surface by cross section.
Final Result:

2) Create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.
Solution:
- Open Dynamo.
- Create two integer sliders and assign the value as 100.
- Insert point by coordinate and copy it three times.
- make the required connection.
- create line by start and end point and make the connection.
- insert the list create option and connect it.
- insert level, wall type, and integer slider.:
- Set level to level 1 and select any type of the wall and set he slider to 10.
- Insert wall by curve and height and make the connections.
- insert floor type option and floor by curve and type option in the dynamo and make the connection.
3) Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block.
Solution:
- Create 4 rectangular columns in revit.
- now insert select model element multiple in dynamo.
- insert set rotation.
- insert integer slider.
- in first select the columns then enter the integer value to 45 and then make the connection with the set rotation.
4) Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column.
Solution:
- Create the conceptual mass
- Select the Metric mass and click on open.
- Open any elevation and create one more level about 12; of height
- Open the Level one and choose the spline tool in the create tab.
- draw the spline core.
- On all the nodes set the plane and draw the circumscribed polygon of about 12'
- Now select the curve and select the first circumscribed polygon and drop down the create form option and select the solid form.
- Created form
- Select the form now and choose the divide tool and select the triangular bent pattern from the property drop down.
5) Use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modelling, You can use the concepts discussed in parametric high rise tower in class for reference.
Solution:
- Insert two integer slider.
- Rename them.
- Set the level as 5 and the height as 10.
- Insert the code block.
- Enter the code : 0..#levels..floorheight and connect them respectively.
- Insert the origin xyz coordinates.
- Connect the code block to the z axis and insert 4 integer sliders.
- insert the rectangle by width length coordinate and set the width and length to 10 and make the connection.
- Insert one more code block for the floor rotation write the code : bottom..top..#levels. And make the connections
- insert the normal xyz point and connect the level code block to the z point.
- Insert the origin point and vector z axis and geomatetry rotate.
- generate the connection.
- Now insert the polysurface and connect the geometry to it.
