Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

1A) AIM: To create a set of sinusoidal points and using these created sinusoidal points to create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

TOOLS/COMMANDS USED :

  • Architectural template.
  • manage tab.
  • Code block.
  • Range.
  • Math.sin
  • Integer slider.
  • Product (*).
  • Add (+).
  • Points by coordinate.
  • List.
  • Surface by loft.
  • dynamo.

PROCEDURE :

  1. Firstly open a new Revit file in architectural template.

2.then go on the manage toolbar and we could observe a tool dynamo tool select it.

3. Dynamo workspace opens and then click on new and start the work in dynamo.

4. To draw a sinusoidal curve we need parameters such as start, end, and step of the curve we can assign the start, end, and step of the curve With the help of the code block option.

5. then we need amplifier and phase of the curve, so we can do this with the help of code block and integer slider.

6.now We have to connect the start, end, and step to the range and We also have to assign a new parameter called Math.sin for the curve so that the curve becomes a sin curve.

7.now let's Connect Math.sin to x of * and amplifier to y of *, and Connect variable of * to x of + and interger slider to y of +.

8.Connect the variable of + to y of point by coordinate.

9. points to be connected with points in NURBS curve and integer slider to the degree in NURBS curve.

RESULT :

We have created a set of sinusoidal points and join them to form a sinusoidal wave, later we have assigned the surface to the curve.

2) Create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.

A)

AIM: To create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo. Use appropriate models as their parameters like wall types, wall parameters, and use sliders for wall height and length.

TOOLS/COMMANDS USED :

  • Dynamo.
  • manage tab
  • architectural template.
  • Code block.
  • Point by coordinates.
  • Line by start and endpoint.
  • List.
  • Wall type.
  • Levels.
  • Wall by curve and height.
  • integer slider.

PROCEDURE :

  1. Firstly open a REVIT file in the architectural template.
  2. then go to the Manage tab and select the dynamo option available in the toolbar.

3.From dynamo select new and now start creating two integer sliders for x and y.

4.Create four points by coordinates and Connect the points to the line by start and endpoint.

5.now Create levels, height of wall, and wall type parameters. and Connect the height of the wall, wall types, levels, and list to the wall by curve and height.

6.Now we can see wall in 3D view when we go back to REVIT.

RESULT :

we have created a conceptual layout of the floor with all the required parameters.

3) Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block.

A)

AIM: To create an array of model elements in Revit using Dynamo and vary their properties using sliders or code

TOOLS/COMMANDS USED :

  • 3D view
  • manage tab.
  • Columns.
  • Dynamo.
  • Set rotation.
  • Integer slider.
  • Code block.
  • Select model element.
  • View.
  • architectural template.

PROCEDURE :

  1. Firstly open Revit file architectural template and draw architectural column.
  2. Now let us copy the column drawn and paste it at a horizontal distance of 6'0".

3.Next copy both the columns and paste them vertically, so we get 4 architectural columns in total in the drawing.

  1. Then go to the Manage tab and select the dynamo option.

4.In the dynamo window select Add select model elements, set rotation, code block, and integer slider parameters.

5.giving a standard value to the code block and then connecting select model elements and code block to set rotation.

6.Now let us connect the integer slider to set rotation parameters to change the rotation of the columns.

7.now, let us change the values on the integer slider and observe the rotation of the columns simultaneously in the Revit file with various values.

8.The same rotation is observed in the 3D view.

RESULT :

We have created and changed the parameters of array of elements in Revit with the help of dynamo.

QUESTION 4) Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column.

ANS 4)

AIM: To create a conceptional mass in Revit and develop a parametric column and apply concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modeling.

TOOLS /COMMANDS USED :

  • divide surface
  • manage tab
  • architectural template.
  • Conceptual mass.
  • Level.
  • create form
  • filter
  • Set.
  • Reference.
  • Pattern.
  • Families

PROCEDURE :

  1. Firstly open Revit and select new family, under that select conceptual mass option and click ok then nowConceptual mass family opens.

2.Now lets us select north view and add a level say 20'.

3.then by selecting line option and draw a line of 20' between both the levels.

4.then Go to the 3D view and add reference points on the line at desired distances.

5.Now let us select the set option at the points and draw polygons at reference points which were assigned before.

6.Selecting all the components followed by clicking on create form.

7.Select all the elements and click on the divided surfaces tool.

8.Now we can create new families by going into curtain panel pattern based and click ok.

9.Now we can load the family into the project of conceptional mass and change the pattern to our desired wish.

RESULT :

We have created a conceptional mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and add triangular bent shaped panels.

5) Use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modelling, You can use the concepts discussed in parametric high rise tower in class for reference.

A)

AIM: To create a parametric stadium using dynamo tool.

TOOLS /COMMANDS USED :

  • Dynamo.
  • file
  • manage tab
  • architectural tab.
  • manage tab
  • Integer slider.
  • Code block.
  • Coordinate system by origin.
  • Rectangle by width and length.

PROCEDURE :

  1. Firstly open the Revit file.
  2. then go to the Manage tab and select the dynamo tool.

3.Add integer sliders and assign them for the number of levels, floor to floor distance, bottom floor rotation, and top floor rotation.

4.Add Code block, coordinates by origin, rectangle by width and length, and geometry rotation.

5.connect the integer sliders to code block and width and length sliders to width and length in the rectangle by width and length.

6.Now let us connect rectangle, point, axis, and degrees parameters to geometry rotate.

7.The top and bottom rotation can be changed to see the twist in the building. We can also change the height and number of floors.

8.The structure can be viewed in the Revit tab.

RESULT: we have developed a parametric stadium with the help of visual programming language.
