Challenge

Creating Conceptual mass in REVIT and Creation of Sinusoidal curve and a Parametric stadium using Dynamo

Question 1- Using Dynamo create a set of sinusoidal points and create a curve and create a surface out of the curve.

Answer-

Step 1- Open revit and open dynamo from manage tab.

Step 2- Create a Integer slider node and add values

Step 3- Create Range and connect the nodes

Step 4- Create points by co-ordinates

Step 5- Create code block

Step 6- Create math.sin

Step 7- Connect start, end and step with integer sliders

Step 8- Range to point by co-ordinate system

Step 9- Range to angle

Step 10- Range to another co-ordinate system.

Step 11- Create product node

Step 12- Connect step code block to point by co-ordinate z node

Step 13- Step math sin to point by co-ordinate

Step 14- Math sine to product x

Step 15- Product varient to point co-ordinate z node

Step 16- Create list, surface by loft and nurbs by co-ordinate

Step 17- Connect point by co-ordinate to nurb by cordinate

Step 18- Connect nurb by coordinate to list0 and list 1

Step 19- Connect list to surface

Question 2- Create a conceptual layout of floor plan in dynamo . Using the tools available in dynamo link the lines to appropriate model elements in Revit by choosing the wall types and wall parameters. Make use of the sliders to slide through the height of the wall and length of the wall.

Answer-

Step 1- Create Integer slider, Point by co-ordinate

Step 2- Connect the nodes

Step 3- Connect all the node of start and end points to create a line

Step 4- To check in revit a wall is been created

Step 5- Add create list and connect all the nodes

Step 6- Insert wall type integer slider and levels

Step 7- Create wall by curve and height

Step 8- View in revit the wall is been created

Step 9- Create floor type and floor by outline node

Step 10- Connect levels floor type and outline curve to form a floor

Result- Wall height and floor is been created.

Question 3- Create an array of model elements in Revit. Use dynamo to vary the properties of model elements by using the slider or code block

Answer 3-

Step 1- Open revit and create columns using architectural option columns men

Step 2- Select Moddel elements

Step 3- create integer slider and rotation

Step 4- Connect the nodes

Question 4- Create a conceptual mass in Revit and develop a parametric column by dividing the surfaces and apply the concepts similar to used in parametric walkway modelling. Use triangular bent or square shaped panels to add finish to the parametric column

Answer 4-

Step 1- open new conceptual mass template

Step 2- Create one more level

Step 3- Go to plan view and draw a line by spline option from model menu bar.

Step 4- Set plane to the nodes and create polygon to each node and select the line and first polygon and create solid form.

Step 5- Select the shape and divide the surface

Step 6- change the properties of the structure to triangle bent.

Results-

Question 5- Use Dynamo to work on developing a Parametric Stadium. List your parameters and use the visual programming approach to complete the modelling, You can use the concepts discussed in parametric high rise tower in class for reference.

ANswer 5-

Step 1- Open dynamo

Step 2- Create the integer slider, code block, point by co-ordinates.

Step 3- Create rectangle by Co-ordinate system, width and length

Step 4- Connect all the nodes

A square shape is been created on different levels.

Step 5- Create code block

Step 6- Create geometric rotate and connect all the nodes

Step 7- Create polysurface by loft and conect the nodes

Result-
