Concept on positioning of Columns
1.
INVESTIGATION OF THE FRAMING W.R.T. TO SYMMETRY IN X- DIRECTION
if we spilt the plan vertically half, it will look mirrored. so we conclude the given plan is symmetric in X- direction.
INVESTIGATION OF THE FRAMING PLAN W.R.T. SYMMETRY IN Y- DIRECTION
if we split the plan horizontally half, it will look mirrored so we conclude the given plan is symmetric in y direction.
INVESTIGATION OF THE FRAMING W.R.T. REDUNDENCY IN X- DIRECTION
the coloumn in x direction are comparatively more and evnly spaced so the stucture is more redundent in x direction . expect the top and bottom coloumn rows are having quite long span.
INVESTIGATION OF THE PLAN W.R.T. REDUNDENCY IN Y DIRECTION
the column in y direction are comperetivly lesser but evenly spaced so the stucture is redundent but lesser than of in x direction.
INVESTIGATION W.R.T. BI DIRECTIONAL STIFFNESS;
- the coloumn in horizontal direction are connected with straight to stairght beams. this means any latreral load passing from left ed of the building will have path straight till it reaches right end of the building.
- the colomn in vertical direction are not connected with streigt to streight beams. so a lateral load passing from sought side of building will get diverted to east & west direction ro reach next bay.
INVESTIGATION OF THE FRAMING PLAN W.R.T. DUCTILITY
- PRIMA FACIE, THE ASPECT RATIO OF THE plan clearly hints more column in x direction compared to y direction. it will results in higher stifness of the building in x direction which would reduce ductility in x axis.
- moreover the x force will easily pass from one bay to its next dude to beam aligment.
- so we can conclude that the given framing planis more in y direction than that of in x direction.
2. VERTICAL IRREGURALITY- the building plan area is large in bottom stories. the floor areas are getting reduced with increrse in height. these building floor plan areas are getting reduced with increse in height. these building offsets has to be crosschescked with resferrence to IS 1893- 2016 TABLE 6 serial number ( iii)
SOFT STORY- the building has uncoverd opening space in 6 th floor. as there is no occpancy or a partician wall, this will lead to plastic hinge formation at the coloumn W.R.T. IS 1893- 2016 4A). THIS HAS TO BE CHECKED AND sufficiently designed.
SLOPY BASE-
the building consttructed on a slopping ground at one side. this will lead to significant variation in the stiffness W.R.T. IS 1893- 2016 FIG. 5E . few levels may be subjected to soft story mechanism.
3. OPEN GROUND FLOOR- this denotes soft storey mechanism acting in the building.
ROOMS ALONG 2 BAYS SEPERTED BY AN OPEN CORRIDOR- the beys filled with rooms will have higher mass compered to the middle bay left open for corridor. this include mass irreguralities along height uniformly.
TWO SHORTS SIDES COVERD WITH INFILL WALLS- Tthis means the building left and right sides periphery is more siffer seismic forces .
STAIRCASE PORTION AT LEFT TOP CORNER- usally staircase and lift portion are stiferthen other parts beacause of concentreded concrete element so the staircase portion contain more sufficients more stifness in the provided building plan.
NO FRAMIMNG CONNECTION ALONG Y DIRECTION
BEAMS CONNECTED ALONG COLOUNM MINOR AXIS
