Concept on positioning of Columns
1)
Ans:-
- Symmertry:
It is observed that the given layout of the framing plan has good symmetrical aspects.
In this plan all the columns and beams are evenly distributed the loads .
- Redundancy:
As the structural design of beams and columns can evenly distribute the loads , this increases the redundancy of the structure, so the structure can resist the earth quick.
- Bi-directional Stifness:
As the given plan is symmetric ( stiffness also symmetric ), therefore the masses acting on it will be safe .
- Ductility:
The structure is within the elastic limit .
2)
Ans:-
The possible type of irregularities for the given structure are:
- Soft storey irregularity:
1.The columns in one storey is longer than the above.
2.Strong and stiffness of the upper floors due to shear walls.
- Some provisions to avoid the irregulrities:
The building is torsionally irregular So there is a requirement of additional reinforcement.
The mass irregulrity of the structure is avoided by providing light weight concrete/ Low weight masonary .
The structure should be in symmetric .
3)
Ans:-
- There is no proper distribution of loads , it's un-symmetric structure.
- There is no proper provision of redundancy in the vertical direction.
- The junction of the beam and columns should be strong.
- The structural design is improper.
- The structure has weak columns and strong beams .
