Bird Strike - Project - 2
AIM: The main aim of this week challenge is to perform a bird strike simulation on a air turbine starter. Now in this the nodes and element id should be renumbered to the given value and there must be only a single master file which includes all the sub file to run the simulation.
PROCEDURE:
1.First import the bird strike model into ls-dyna.
2.Now delete the other parts except the casing by selecting element tool tab and clicking element editing option and delete the other elemets except casing.

3.Now go to model and part tab and select renumber option and renumber the node, element and part.

4. Save the k.file
5.Repeat the step 2 and 3 for the other parts like blade, hub and bird.
HUB:

BLADE:

BIRD:

6. Now create the material and section card for all the parts seperately and save it as a seperate file.

7. Now create the contact card for the parts and save it as a seperate k.file

8. Now create the control and database card for the parts and save it as a seperate k.file

9. Now create boundary cards and save it as a seperate k.file

10.Now open a new file and create the include card and include all the files that we have created so far.

OUTPUT FILES:
STRESS PLOTS

STRAIN PLOT

Difficulties faced:
1. When the initial velocity card is used for the rotational velocity the blades were folding towards the center and so initial velocity generation card is used to give rotational velocity for blades.
2. when the initial velocity card and initial velocity generation card is used there was some error, so the initial velocity generation card is used for both the velocity.
3. Since there was a lot of deflection in the bird, young's modulus of the material was increased to 20Mpa and now the simulation of the bird was good.
4.Whan a high rotational velocity was given to the blades they crash into each other so a small rotational velocity was given.
CONCLUSION:
Thus the simulation of the bird strike was performed and the result has been analysed.
Initial there was a little stress occur on the blade due to the rotational velocity and when the bird strike there was a has stress at the impacted blades. The strain plots are ok on the blades.
