Week 4- Challenge
STEP 1: Need to import the model into the hypermesh workspace
STEP 2: Go into the geomentry pane and select the midsurface tab and in the midsurface tab select the surface to create the midsurface, once created click the return tab. Rename it as midsurface
STEP 3:After creating the midsurface, need to assign material and property for that midsurface. So in the model tab right click select material. In the lower left coloumn select the card image as MAT1 and rename the material as steel.
STEP 4: Then in the model tab right click select property. In the card image select pshell and give the material as steel and give the thickness as 5 mm.Rename the property as pshell
STEP 5: Select the midsurface in the model tree and assign the material as steel and property as pshell.
STEP 6: Go into the 1D pane and select the hyperbeam tab and in that select standard section radio button and first select the standard box section to create the box section.
STEP 7: This will redirect into the hyperbeam page where you can give the inputs for the dimesion of the box section and rename it as box.
STEP 8: Then right click create-->hyperbeam-->standard I section and give the inputs for the dimesion of the I section and rename it as I-BEAM.
STEP 9: Then right click create-->optistruct-->cross section and give the inputs for the dimesion of the cross section and rename it as cross.
STEP 10: Now in the model tab, right click and create 3 property and rename the 3 property as bar,rod and beam.
STEP 11: In the bar property select the card image as PBAR and give the material as steel
STEP 12: In the rod property select the card image as PROD and give the material as steel
STEP 13: In the beam property select the card image as PBEAM and give the material as steel
STEP 14: Now go to 1D pane and select rigid tab.In that check the create radio button and in the drop down list select multiple node option. There will be another drop down created next to it and in that option select calculate node. Now select nodes by path option and select the required degree of freedom as asked and select all the nodes around the hole in the upper bracket as required in the given diagram. Now create the same for the lower bracket.
STEP 15: In that 1D pane select the rbe3 tab.In that check the create radio button and in the drop down list select multiple node option. There will be another drop down created next to it and in that option select calculate node. Now select nodes by path option and select the required degree of freedom as asked and select all the nodes around the hole in the upper bracket as required in the given diagram. Now create the same for the lower bracket. Do the same for the other hole also.
STEP 16: In that 1D pane select the ROD tab.In that check the create radio button and select the element type as CROD and select the center of rbe2 node at the top and bottom bracket and also select the property type as ROD.
STEP 17: In that 1D pane select the BAR tab.In that check the create radio button and select the element type as CBAR and also select the property type as BAR. now select the center of rbe3 node at the top and bottom bracket and also give the direction of the vector and press tab button.
STEP 18: In that 1D pane select the BAR tab.In that check the create radio button and select the element type as CBEAM and also select the property type as BEAM. now select the center of rbe3 node at the top and bottom bracket and also give the direction of the vector and press tab button.
STEP 19: In that 1D pane select the MASS tab.In that check the create radio button and select the element type as CMASS1 and and give the required mass value and select the node at which you wanted to create the mass
STEP 20: In that 1D pane select the SPRING tab.In that check the create radio button and select the element type as CELAS1 and and select the node in the top and bottom bracket at which you wanted to create the spring element.
