BENCHMARKING

It is a process of measuring the performance of a company's products, services or processes against those of another business that is considered to be at a better position or in some case at the best position. Benchmarking has a single goal of internal improvent and opportunities relating to it. Benchmarking involves decoding a company's superior performance, results, efficiency and output by analysing how it operates on a higher scale by overcoming challenges.

It might involve a vast area of parameters or a very small indispensable change. It can range from bringing out innovative change, cultural change, management change or a change in customer approach and dealing. These all changes can be brought out to match the competitor who is sitting at a higher position.

Benchmarking can be done either by continuous improvement which is incremental with sample size adjustments and tweaks or by drastic or dramatic change in the interal frame of work.

The above data is an example of ow inventory management affects an average company in comparison to a benchmark company.
