Benchmarking
AUTOMOTIVE BENCH MARKING:
Bench marking is one of the processes that can be utilizing by automobile industries on these days, essentially bench marking is comparing the product that we're going to produce with the other products those are already existing in present market than by doing these Comparisons we can get the picture of what are the pros and cons of our competitor's products and how to we eliminate the defects we already noticed on competitor’s product then what are the features that we are going to add on our product and what our product will be in market and then there are a couple of types are there in benchmarking let’s have a look at both of benchmarking methods.
- Benchmarking-1
- Benchmarking-2
- Benchmarking-1
- It’s also known as product level benchmarking which means as we have seen before in this case, we are going to compare our product with our competitor's products, so it does give us the account of which is the remarkable product of our competitor’s, and we can get idea how our product will be in present market then we know we are competing head-to-head with who as well.
- Benchmarking-2
And it’s been known as part level bench marking (or) component level bench marking in this process we do a complete study of the material which used by the competitors on their own products, and we will take something into our consideration in this process those none other than Marley,
- What material we used
- Weight of material
- Number of parts
- Thickness of material
So, these are the few steps in manufacturing that following by each of the manufacturer around the world before begin the production, and it’s been as way to bring their product to reality.
And then I am going to do my own bench marking by comparing the cars which are selling like hot cake in India right away so, let’s have a look at my own benchmarking with an illustration here we got Mr.pugazhyenthi with us and who’s been living in Bangalore with his parents, wife and theirs 5 years old kid, and he’s looking for buying a car with in 8 to 10 lakhs for daily commute to his office and as will go to his native place Madurai which is around 500 km away from Bangalore every month once, so I assume that he will commute to his office that around 30 km away from his home and his trip to Madurai will be around 1000 km up & down, so roughly he is driving around 1900 km per month yearly 22,800 km so let me bring a diesel variant as well to this arena, and here I've got some models that can satisfy him by the remarkable features.
Note:
He is happy camper with big cars.
His wish list:
- Since his family includes his wife and his child and both elderlies so he is looking spacious cabin and legroom
- As he wants to commute to his office he wants easy handling
- roughly he is driving around 1900 km per month yearly 22,800 km
- Automatic transmission might be the best option but due to budget constrains we only consider the manual and AMT transmission option
- His budget with in 8 to 10 lakh
- His preferences would be SUV's
- And he is looking great high-speed stability on highways and safety features as well
- Since he’s looking for millage let me bring kia sonet diesel as well to this arena for save money from fuel consumption
Here we start!!!!

Most helpful review:

My observation:
As I see it, we are at end of the war we came across plenty of features and specifications of all those competitors but when it's come to make decision of who’s the winner it might be the long shot because there are many other options and specs falls within 8 to 10 lakhs budget and there also with a 7-seater option as well remember Pugazhenthi is stan of big cars so, let’s consider the pros and cons of all the competitors to pick our winner
As for Nisson PROS
- Car is good as compared to its price.
- Have all the features one customer need in today's car.
- Features that are not available in this car price range like ambient lighting, cvt, touchscreen, digital instrumental cluster, air purifier, wireless phone charger, premium JBL speakers, and tech pack.
Cons:
- Doesn't have a sunroof, most of the car offer sunroof and most of the customers like to have sunroof in their car.
- Apart from the sunroof the car is smaller than kia sonet in height i guess which give it little bit non suv feel.
RENAULT TRIBER:
Pros:
- Excellent city runabout with immense practicality
- Cabin space utilisation is ingenious
- Impressive price and package combination
Cons:
- Some cabin plastic isn’t up to the mark
- No boot space with all three rows up
- Engine needs more grunt considering it is a seven-seater
KIA SONET:
Pros:
- Flamboyant styling
- Feature loaded cabin
- Loads of Powertrain options
Cons:
- Slightly stiffer ride quality
- Second row seat isn’t spacious
- No diesel-iMT combination
TATA NEXON:
Pros:
- New sharper styling makes the new Nexon look upmarket
- Five Star G-NCAP safety rating
- BS6 compliant powertrain
Cons:
- Interior quality could have been better
- Petrol engine lacks low-end grunt
- Infotainment screen not as good as rivals.
Conclusion:
Eventually it brings me to end of the comparison when we look at nisson despite it loaded many of features look wise it doesn’t look dominating as others but it’s engine emerging 99 horses it’s decent amount of power to cruise on highways and it’s tested by Asian ncap and rated 4- stars at safety but pugazh might feel disappointed with the exterior. On the other hand, Renault triber which is only comes with 7-seater with amt transmission and it tested by global ncap and rated 4-stars for adult safety & 3-stars for child safety pugazh might font of triber as he can commute to his office even if it’s a seven-seater, but there’s huge question mark is on performance because it’s 1-liter engine making only 71 horses at 6250rpm and 96 nm torque at 3500 rpm so as for performance this engine is not that peppy it’s okay for small weekend trips or go for picnics and some camping with his family at the same time when it’s come to long drive it’d better have more horses, and since he’s expecting some more power on high ways let’s have look at other both competitors Kia sonet it’s powered by 1.5 liter crdi diesel engine and producing 99 horses and it does look flamboyant and even if it will be perform good at high ways and when it comes as safety as per global ncap report 2020 it rated as 3-stars anyhow ,since there’s second row has been not enough spacious so his family member might not good with this and for final let’s have look at TATA NEXON compare with other models nexon can be more power full due to the 118 horses of 1.2 L revotron turbocharged petrol engine even if there might be some cons on interior quality and low-end pick up, there are shrap style and massive power are integrating as together on single package and due to Mr. Pugazh family has 5-year-old kid safety is always playing essential role and nexon have given 5- stars at crash protection by global ncab so I will suggest him to buy TATA NEXON
