Benchmarking
BENCHMARKING:
Benchmarking involves a structured comparison between similar products, services or processes on some dimensions of performance.
Benchmarking is a process used to measure the quality and performance of your company’s products, services, and processes. These measurements don’t have much value on their own—that data needs to be compared against some sort of standard.
The objective of benchmarking is to use the data gathered in your benchmarking process to identify areas where improvements can be made by:
- Determining how and where other companies are achieving higher performance levels than your company has been able to achieve.
- Comparing the competition’s processes and strategies against your own.
- Using the information you gather from your analyses and comparisons to implement changes that will improve your company’s performance, products, and services.
Common areas that you may want to target for benchmarking analysis include cost per unit, time to produce each unit, quality of each unit, and customer satisfaction. The performance metrics you get from these targets can be compared against others to help you determine best practices for improving your operations.
TYPES OF BENCHMARKING:
1. Performance benchmarking involves gathering and comparing quantitative data (i.e., measures or key performance indicators). Performance benchmarking is usually the first step organizations take to identify performance gaps.
2. Practice benchmarking involves gathering and comparing qualitative information about how an activity is conducted through people, processes, and technology.
3. Internal benchmarking compares metrics (performance benchmarking) and/or practices (practice benchmarking) from different units, product lines, departments, programs, geographies, etc., within the organization.
4. External benchmarking compares metrics and/or practices of one organization to one or many others.

CONCLUSION:
Due to Budget Constraints, Mr. Pughazhyendhii will only able to buy entry level models of NEXON, SONET and VENUE.
The entry level variants doesn't offer the equipment list as well as safety standard as per present requirements. So above are not recommended.
TATA KUV100 offers great proposition at very competitive starting price of sub 8 lakhs rupees. But it doesn't gives the option of AUTO or SEMI-AUTO transmission.
Therefore,I will recommed Mr. Pughazhyendhii to buy TATA PUNCH as it offers good space, have good mileage, and comes in AMT transmission which will help him beat the Banglore Traffic. TATA PUNCH is also a good stable when at high speed so will give him necessary comfort while travel to madurai.
Specifically, Mr. Pughazhyendhii should buy TATA PUNCH Accomplished AMT variant which sell in bangalore for ₹ 9.96 Lakh(on-road). It offers all the features such as
- 7 inch touch display
- Android Auto (Wired)
- Apple Car Play (Wired)
- Steering mounted controls
- 6 speakers
- 8 way manual driver Seat Adjustment
- 2 Airbags
- Safety features like ABS, EBD, Hill hold, Traction control system, speed sensing door locks, etc.
& many other features.
