what is benchmarking ?
- Benchmarking in automobile industry involves the structured comparison between the similar products, services and processes on some dimensions of performance. It is done in two steps 1) benchmarking I, 2) benchmarking II
- Benchmarking I : it is the case study of existing products by comparing the competitors, price, specifications and features of the car.
- Benchmarking II : it is detailed case study of existing product. Component wise comparison from the competitors vehicle to reduce the weight of the car thereby improving the performance of the car.
1) Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is a married man who lives in Bangalore which is a highly crowded city. His Family comprises five members including his wife, a five-year-old boy, his father, and his mother. He visits his native place Madurai which is 500kms away from Bangalore once a month. Also, he will be using his car to commute to his office. His budget falls between 8 to 10 lakhs on road. Please suggest to him options so that he will buy a good car for his family.

Datsun India has silently launched a new trim in its hatchback series Go in the country. It is christened as Datsun Go T Option . It is currently the high end variant and comes with an added feature in the form of driver airbag. Powering this trim is the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder DOHC based petrol engine that has the capacity of displacing 1198cc. It enables the vehicle to produce a peak mileage of 20.6 Kmpl, which is rather good for this class. Apart from adding an airbag, the manufacturer has made no changes to the vehicle. It has a very attractive body structure featuring a lot of chrome inserts on it. Being the top end trim, it is bestowed with several comfort aspects like air conditioning system with heater and filter, gear shift guide, speed sensitive power steering, front power windows, mobile docking station and much more. The interiors of this trim are quite spacious and have been done up with quality material. This hatch can provide seating for five passengers comfortably. As far as safety aspects are concerned, it is equipped with functions like child lock system, engine immobilizer, manual central locking, front disc brakes, front and rear seat belts.
Pros:
1. Affordable cost of ownership and maintenance.
2. Inclusion of airbag is now adds to its plus point.
Cons:
1. Lack of anti lock braking system.
2. Several more convenience features can be added.

i am going to compare Datsun GO Plus T Option CVT and Renault Kiger RXT. These two are the best so am doing bechmarking to for these two. i am going to comopare the component level bechmarking.

>>> conclusion: After comparing all above six cars. i am going to suggest the Datsun GO Plus T Option CVT. which is having all the features of compettor cars with lowest price of On-Road Price in Bangalore: RS. 8,47,268 lakhs. and transmission is automatic in this car whereas the all other competators having maual transmission in this price. And also having more engine capacity of about 1198 cc. and also the mileage is 18.57 kmpl which is better. And BHP is also low as76.43. and this only car having 7 seater whereas others are 5 seaters. i suggeest Datsun GO Plus T Option CVT is suitable choice for Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii should buy.
