Benchmarking
1. As mentioned in the above scenario, since the family consists of 5 people the most suitable car for long-distance travel and daily office commute would be the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga since the on-road price of the vehicle is approximately 10Lacs and the sitting capacity is 7 people and the car is available in two configurations which are Petrol and CNG. The mileage for the Petrol version is 20.5 kmpl and that of the CNG version which is eco-friendly is 26.1km/kg. Also, various features such as an Anti-lock braking system (ABS), Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), and Brake Assist (BA) are available. Since this vehicle is lightweight, it leads to good performance and fuel efficiency and is easy to drive compared to an MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle). Also, the looks are quite subtle and since Mr. D.S. Pughazhyendhii is fond of big cars then this SUV is as per the requirement and it can be used for office commutes too.
2. Benchmarking is the process of comparing the design, components, dimensions, performance, and services of the car which is about to be designed from our end concerning the car models which have been introduced in the market by the competitors and also concerning the parent models available of our company. For example, if a BIW engineer is assigned for the roof design of the car then he will compare it with the competitor's model and the parent model if available for the model or similar model and proceed with the design finalization.
3. The cars which I am going to compare are Maruti Ertiga, Mahindra Bolero Neo, Hyundai Aura, and Tata Nexon.
-The TATA Nexon has a 5-star Global NCAP rating but the mileage is less which is 17 kmpl as compared to the 20.5 kmpl mileage of Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and also the sitting capacity is of 5 people instead of 7. Also, the Hyundai Aura is available in only Petrol model and the Mahindra Bolero Neo is in Diesel model but the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga has a CNG model which is a big advantage over other models and the sitting capacity of Hyundai Aura is 4 person only. Also, in terms of looks of a big car, the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga looks more sporty and modern as compared to the Mahindra Bolero Neo.
4.
