Assignment 1-2D Meshing Challenge

OBJECTIVE

Take a midsurface and geometry cleanup and to mesh the given components.

EXCECUTION

PART 1

For this simple model we need to defeature the fillets because its falling below the minimum length. Before that this part have some free edges in the cad model. We need to fix that, because we cant get auto midsurface in a open solid model.

After defeaturing I started meshing, in some areas elements might fail because of the minimum length. So let them fail.

Holes that below 5mm are closed in this part.

PART 2

This model have holes 5mm or less. But it gives very worst mesh in the lower region. So I defeatured the holes. After meshing all the areas I assigned a property and material to the elements.

PART 3

This part is very hard to get get the mesh flow. After the midsurface I toggled the all the nearest lines in the fillet region and I kept the top line of the fillet.

Most of the areas are failing because of the minimum length. If we try to clear the fail elements we cant get a better mesh flow.

RESULT AND CONCLUSION

For the part 1 and 2 we can get a better mesh and fea without fail elements but the components have more features with small distance, so it have some fail elements.
