Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_7_ Metal bracket-II
Objective:
To Design the bracket 3D model in sheetmetal parameter from the given 2D Drawing.
Introduction:
When molten metal is hot rolled into flat sheet which ranges from 0.5mm to 6mm thickness uniformly across the length termed as sheet metal. Below 0.5mm thickness termed as foil and above 6mm thickness categorised as steel plate. Application of sheet metal is very vast from industrial fabrication to aerospace industry. Various profile and increasing the local strength of structure is achieved by accommodating following sheet metal feature like flange, beads, coining, blanking, dimple, reliefs etc.
Here we are designing a bracket of a component from given drawing sheet metal parameter for 3mm sheet.
Design Methodology:
Tools used:
Sketch: drawing the side view profile
Counter flange: profile is extruded to to form 3D sheet
Normal cut-out: Project the profile on the face and cut the section from base model
Unbending: flattening the model to create feature.
Bead: unbend the model and create bead feature as per dimension
Rebend: Re-bend the model to 3D model
Holes: creating simple hole profile of 20mm size on the flat base.
Advance flange: this featured used to create flanges on the curved edges along the sheet
Gusset: This feature is similar to dart to add local strength in the bending region in sheet metal.
Flat pattern: To obtain flat surface for drafting.

Conclusion:
Hence Designed Bracket 3D designed in sheet metal parameter and flat pattern is created.
