Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad for Odd Shaped Enclosure

• OBJECTIVE - Explanation of the sheet metal component and tools used to design it in NX 12.

• INTRODUCTION - Sheet metal are thin and flat pieces formed by industrial processes. It can be cut and bent into variety of shapes.

         Enclosures protect electrical equipment in diverse building, industrial, and utility applications. They may also shield equipment from electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. Enclosures are                   often used to protect the following types of equipment: Circuit breakers, contactors, control panels, and switches.

• DESIGN METHODOLOGY -  For designing a sheet metal component we need to enter into sheet metal mode through application in tool bar.

                                                                                                        LET'S START

1. Make the shown sketch with given dimesions and extrude it.
2. Extrude sketch to shown limits.
3. Convert 3d model to sheet metal by selecting five faces ( red markings) and bend edges ( blue markings).
4. Make flange at shown edge with given dimensions.
5. Make a line at shown face and jog it with the shown values.
6. Unbend the bend faces.
7. Make beads by making shown symmetric sketch.
8. Make holes with shown dimensions.
9. Rebend the unbend sheet after adding all additional features to it.
10. Make flat pattern by selecting shown face and edge in shown direction.
11. Final Model Isometric view.
12. Standard views of model.
