REPORT ON SHEET METAL COMPONENT (BOX ASSEMBLY) AND MODELING TOOLS USED IN NX
|
Explanation of the sheet metal component (BOX ASSEMBLY) and tools used to design it in NX 12. |
|
Sheet metal are thin and flat pieces formed by industrial processes. It can be cut and bent into variety of shapes. Sheet which are very thin are considered as foil or leaf but those with thickness more than 6 mm are plate steels or structural steels. In this report BOX ASSEMBLY is designed which can be used for storing many things as per requirements in any field. |
|
For designing a sheet metal component we need to enter into sheet metal mode through application in tool bar. Adjust sheet metal preferences as standard requirement.![]() |

2. Flange the both long sides with shown specifications. | ![]() |
3. Flange the shown edge and the edge opposite to it with given dimensions, towards each other. | ![]() |
4. Close the corners with shown specifications. | ![]() |
5. Flange the edge to shown specifications. | ![]() |
6. Make flange to the outer edge of last flange. | ![]() |
7. Flange on oppsite edge with same specifications as made earlier. | ![]() |
8. Flange the shown edge to given specifications. | ![]() |
9. Make Hem at shown edge with shown specifications. | ![]() |
10. Make Hem to upward direction at shown edge with shown specifications. | ![]() |
11. Use mirror body and mirror the part to make a complete container. | ![]() |
12. Unite the two bodies to make a single body. | ![]() |
13. Make shown profile for creation of dimple. | ![]() |
14. Mirror the dimple to opposite face. | ![]() |
15. Make dimple in shown profile at bottom face. | ![]() |
16. Unbend all faces. | ![]() |
17. Rebend all faces. | ![]() |
18. Make bead at desired location on bottom face and mirror it to the shown locations. | ![]() |
19. Make Hem at the pointed edges. | ![]() |
20. Make a datum plane (marked in picture) at 203 mm from the bottom xy plane and Tab the profile made same as the projection of top view of the box. This acts as a lid. |
