Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure

Designing of A Odd Shape Encloser.

Objective:-

To learn the workflow procedure for designing odd shapes or angles in sheet metal using Siemens NX sheet metal.

Introduction:

Sheet metal is simply metal that has been formed into thin, flat pieces. It is one of the most basic metalworking forms and can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Numerous everyday objects are made of material. Although extremely thin thicknesses are considered foil or leaf, and pieces thicker than 6 mm (0.25 in) are considered plate, thicknesses can vary significantly.

Design methodology;

We used various tools in this design sheet metal odd shapes or angle process. The flow chart below depicts the step-by-step design methodology used for this project.

Description:

The steps for designing sheet metal odd shapes are clearly described in the steps below.

Sketch:

The fundamental base element of design for any sheet metal component is the sketch. The majority of the features necessitate a sketch. Sheet metal design, odd shapes, and angle design Create a sketch in the "ZX" plane and draw a sketch with the given dimensions at the origin.

Extrude

Create a solid feature by extruding a section along a vector. for this odd shape, the sheet metal design gives a distance of 200mm as shown in the
below figure. (Home tab: design features Gallary-more-extrude)

Wrap the solid model with sheet metal:

Creates a sheet metal model based on a collection of the planner's faces. For this project, four bend edges and five web faces were chosen from the top side. (Home tab: fundamental Gallary-sheet metal form solid)

Flange:

adding a flat flange at an angle to a planar surface and a bend between the two. For an odd shape design, add a flange on the model's left side with a length of 20 mm and an angle of 90. (Home tab: bend gallery– bend)

Jog:-

Lift material on one side of a sketch line and add a flange between two sides to modify the model. Draw an inclined line on the right view side of the model and add a jog with a 20mm height for this project. (Home tab: bend gallery– more – jog)

Bead:

Make a solid by combining a path and a cross-section shape. Odd shape design beads are applied to sheet metal in parallel inclination, as shown below.

Hole.

adding a hole to one or more solid bodies in part or assembly with options for countered bored, countersunk, and threaded. for odd shape sheet metal
design sketch four points figuring the centers of the four wanted holes as shown in figure

Re-bend:

Restore an unstrengthened feature to its previous bend state, as well as any features added after the unstrengthened feature.
