Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_5_Odd Shaped Enclosure
Title of the project
Odd Shaped Enclosure
Objective
The objective of this design is to create Odd Shaped Enclosure with the help of NX advance sheet metal.
Introduction
Sheet metal is the process of turning a flat sheet of steel (or other material, such as aluminium or copper or titanium) into a complex 3D shape, such as those seen in vehicles or aircraft. Compare this to sheet metal fabrication, in which sheets of steel are bent or folded, into simple shapes, such as a folded box or enclosure.
Design approach method.

Descriptions of tools/ features
- Extrude
Which creates a solid feature only when the profile is closed.
- Sheet metal from solid
Build a sheet metals model that takes its shape from a collection of planer faces.
- Flange
Flange consist of one bend region and one web region with respective of the any edges with required length and angle.
- Jog
Lifts a material from one side of the sketch line and adds a flange between two sides.
- Unbend
Flattens the and the material which are adjacent to the bend.
- Bead
Lifts a meaterial along the conture of the sketch thats stimulates a stamping tool.
- Hole
For creating a screw type, screw size hole feature is used.
- Rebend
It restores the feature and comes back to previous bend state.
- Flat pattern
Creates a flat pattern features from the formed sheet metal part.
