Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly
Box Assembly
Objective
The objective of this design is to create Box assembly with the help of NX advance sheet metal.
Introduction
Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metal working, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shapes. Sheet metal is a semi-finished product that can be produced over a large area, whereby sheets are generally light, thin, stable, elastic and flat.
Design approach method

Descriptions of tools/ features
- Tab
It creates a base feature by extruding a sketch along the vector by required thickness.
- Flange
Flange consist of one bend region and one web region with respective of the any edges with required length and angle.
- Close corners
When two flanges are adjesent to each other there will be gap between them, this feature helps to close the gap between the flanges.
- Hem Flange
It folds the edges of the flange to increase the stiffness of the sheet metal.
- Mirror body
Slects the body and mirror it to the respective of the required plane
- Unite
Combines 2 bodys and make it as one single body.
- Dimple
Lifts an area of the model of the sketch which stimulates stamping tool.
- Unbend
Flattens the and the material which are adjacent to the bend.
- Rebend
It restores the feature and comes back to previous bend state.
- Normal cutout
Cuts the material from the sketch to the model.
