Challenge

Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly

BOX ASEEMBLY USING NX

Objective:-

To design 3D CAD model of box assembly using NX12.

Introduction

Sheet metal is metal formed by an industrial process into thin, flat pieces. Sheet metal is one of the fundamental forms used in metal working, and it can be cut and bent into a variety of shape. Countless everyday objects are fabricated from sheet metal.

In this project, the box assembly consists of 3 parts

  1. a) Box (main body)
  2. b) Lid
  3. c) Hinge

This project is designed by Siemens NX 12 software.

Description

1.Tab

It is used this command to create a base feature by extruding a sketch along a vector by a thickness value, or by adding material to existing faces and bend region of a sheet metal part.

  1. Flange

It is used this command to add a flat flange at an angle to a planar face and add a bend between the two. A flange consists of a bend region and a web.

  1. Closed corner

This is used to fill the gaps or unfilled portion of the body.

  1. Hem flange

It is used to modify the surface by folding edges of the sheet in order to improve its characteristics.

  1. Mirror feature

This is used to mirror a feature along a specific direction.

  1. Dimple

It is used to lift an area shown in the section make an impression on the sheet metal.

  1. Unbend

It is used for unbending corners of the body.

  1. Rebend

It is used for bending corners of the unbend body.

  1. Normal cutout

It is used to cut or create a gap in the sketch.

  1. Break corner

It is used to convert the sharp edges to the smooth edges of the corner.
