Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_2_Box Assembly

BOX ASSEMBLY

OBJECTIVE:

To design a ‘Box Assembly’ using Siemens NX Sheetmetal application.

INTRODUCTION:

Sheet metal is one of the more versatile materials in the manufacturing industry. The ranges in thickness from 0.5mm to 6mm. Sheet metal Box Assembly is an enclosure, normally used for to circuit board and printed circuit board assembly (PCBA).

DESCRIPTION:

TAB

To create a base feature by extruding a sketch along a vector by a thickness value.

FLANGE

To create a single flange instance or multiple instances by selecting a single or multiple base edges.

CLOSED CORNER

It is used to modify two flanges in one operation and to close the corner where the two flanges meet. During flattening, the corner and relief geometry are made appropriate for a flat pattern.

HEM FLANGE

To modify an edge of a sheet metal part by folding it onto itself for the purpose of safe handling or to increase edge stiffness.

MIRROR BODY

To create copies a body and mirrors it across a plane.

UNITE

To combine the volume of two or more solid tool bodies into a single target body. The target body and tool body must overlap or share faces so that the result is a valid solid body.

DIMPLE

To lift an area of the model inside a sketch that simulates a stamping tool. You can create an indentation in a sheet metal part using a sketched section as the dimple outline.

MIRROR FEATURE

To create copies a feature and mirrors it across a plane.

UNBEND

Unbend commend to be used flatten the material for create holes, cutout shapes in unbend material.

REBEND

Use the Re-bend command to return an unbend feature to its previous bend state. Any features added after the unbend operation are properly repositioned during the re-bend operation.

BEAD

Use the Bead command to lift material along the contour of a sketch that simulates a stamping tool. Beads can also be created to stiffen sheet metal parts. And also create beads on deform features in sheet metal parts.

DATUM PLANE

To create a datum plane used to construct other feature.

TAB – DESIGNING THE LID

To design a lid, from the bottom of the box depends to construct the tab feature.

BREAK CORNER

To create a round or chamfer sharp corners of a tab or flange.

NORMAL CUTOUT

To cut material by projecting a sketch onto the model and then cutting perpendicular to the faces intersected by the projection.

DRAFTING

Which provides tools to create and maintain drawings of the design pattern.
