Advanced Sheet Metal Design Using NX Cad Challenge_1_Casing Design
CASE DESIGN:
INTRODUCTION:
- STRAT IN THE NX 12
- CREATE A NEW SHEET METAL model called casing part.
- Create a sketch in the XY plane
- draw a rectangle centered at the origin with an x-length of 60 mm and a y width of 50mm
- exit the sketch mode.

2.change design parameter.
- Go to the menu
- next step preferences

- sheet metal.

- global parameters 1mm
Adding a solid sheet.

- the tab is used to sketch is converted into a thick sheet at the thickness of 1mm.
- the sketch can be created by using the tab tool also sketch is highlighted in a blue-colored box.
CUTOUT.
- Sketch rectangular at the bottom of the working surface.
- by using the normal cut-out command.
- the operation performed showed in the figure.

BANGING.
- Create the sketch on the working surface using the XY plane

- consisting of two symmetric horizontal lines w.r.t the x-axis.
- the upper horizontal line is located at 10mm from the upper left corner of the metal sheet.
- exit the sketch mode and click the bend button, under the more bottom of the bending field.

- in the bend dialog box, select one line as a bend line use angle of 90 degrees.

- redo the same procedure for the other symmetric line.
- use the reverse side option for obtaining the same result as below.

ADDING FLANGES.
- Click on the flange command

- use a length of 5mm and apply the flange on the shown edge of the metal sheet.

- similarly, go the same operation to the rear side of the working surface.

- Apply similar flanges to the corresponding symmetric edges of the metal sheet
- also apply similar flanges on the below show edges.
- the final result to obtain is shown here below.
BREAKING CORNERS:

- Apply breaking corner at the radius of 1mm
- it is used to remove the sharp edges.
UNBENDING THE METAL SHEET:
- SELECT THE UNBENDING COMMAND.
- IN the unbend dialog box, select the as stationary face the larger horizontal face of the metal sheet. select as bend face one of its adjacent faces.
- redo as many similar as necessary to obtain a flat metal sheet.
note :
- the order in which you unbend the face .you will need to re-bend these faces in the reverse order at the end.

ADDING HOLES:
- We will first sketch four points figuring the centers of the four wanted holes.
- create a sketch in the plane.
- in the lower-left part of the metal, the sheet draws a line in which extremities are located on the middle of the shown segments
- draw a point on the center of this line
- click on the hole button under the more button of the feature field.
- in the hole dialog box use a screw clearance hole as type, with an M1.6.

- screw size as to take according to your requirement.
- set the depth limit option through the body.
- create the four holes centered on the four previously defined points.
DIMPLE:
- create the sketch using the XY plane.

- by using the move curve command.

- at the angle of 45 degrees.
DIMPLE:
- By USING THE DIMPLE COMMAND
- select the spline curve.
- set the depth option to 1mm and sidewalls to material inside.
- expand the rounding field by left-clicking on it.
- set all the parameters of the rounding field to 1mm.
- click ok.

- in few cases need to increase the depth.
- if the operation is not applied.
BEADS:
- FIRST CREATE THE SKETCH.

- by using the bead command
- in the bead dialog box select the circle you have just drawn.
- set the depth and radius to 1mmand the cross-section to circular.
- the die radius to 1mm.

- by using the mirror feature
- select the bead and its corresponding sketch as a feature to mirror.
- do the same operation to another side.

Re-bending :
- SELECT THE REBEND COMMAND.
- RESELECT face by selecting them the reverse order in which they were bending.

DRAFTING:
- go to the application and select the drafting.

- Select the new page and required size like A3.
- then select the base view
- to adjust the sheet metal view like top view, front view.
- for the moment, the flattened version is not visible .to make it visible, go in the part navigator and expand the model and model tree.
- in the base view dialog box, select in the option model view to use flat pattern#1
- set the scale to 2:1.
