Report on Casing.

Title of the project: Casing Design Using NX Cad

Objective

• To design a Casing using NX Sheetmetal application
• To familiar about the usage of tools while designing a casing.

Introduction

A Casing is a Sheetmetal component used as cover or a shell that protects the parts within it.

It can be created by the features of the NX Sheetmetal.

Design Methodology

The following flowchart explains the methodology of the casing.

1. Tab - It is created by using sketch as a base feature.
2. Normal cutout- It can be done by the use of sketch Normal Cutout.
3. Bend - It can be done by the use of sketch drawn on the XY plane Bend.
4. Flange- It is performed in four edges Flange.
5. Break Corner- It is performed in 16 sharp edges to make the edge round.
6. Unbend- Unbend is performed with respect to the upper surface of the tab created.
7. Bead- It can be created by the circle of diameter 5mm Hole • It is performed on the upper surface of the tab
8. Mirror- The created bead is mirrored with respect to different planes.
9. Dimple -It can be done by the sketch drawn on the upper surface of the tab by he use of studio spline.
10. Rebend -The bended surface is made to bend in the reverse order in which they bend •
11. Drafting - Drafting can be done by inserting the modelled casing in the A4 sheet.

Description of the Features

Sketch: It is the basic feature for the any kind of operation.

Tab: a base feature by extruding a sketch along a vector by a thickness value or adds a material to a plane face

Normal Cutout: Cuts the model perpendicular to the sketch

Bend: Modifies the model by bending material on one side of a sketch line adding a bend between the two sides

Break Corner: Rounds a sharp corner

Unbend: Flattens a bend

Hole: Create a hole with the circle created

Bead: Lifts a material along a counter of sketch that simulates stamping a tool.

Mirror: Used to create a same feature respect to the plane or sketch

Dimple: Lifts an area of the model inside a sketch that simulates stamping a tool.

Rebend: Restores a bend Drafting: It is the creation of drawing for the purposes of determining how the device should be created.
