3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT

1) Based on the project saved from Week 3, proceed from the First Floor Level. Model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level

Solution:

Aim: To model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level

Procedure:

1. Go to architecture tab and select the cieling tool.

2. Go to sketch cieling.

3. Draw an enlosed area and ajdust the height offset in properties browser.

Result: The cieling is created.

2. Model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees

Aim: To model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling.

Procedure:

1. Go to the architecture tab and select the roof tool.

2. Select the level at which you want to create the roof.

3. Select pick lines and pick the edges of the ceiling.

4. Adjust the slope in properties browser.

Result: The roof has benn created.

3) Using the file saved from weeks 2 to 4, create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level including all the walls, floors, and components. Separate them to architecture and structural plans

a. Architecture plan must have walls, floors, and all the components placed within the building
b. Structure plan must have details of only walls, floors, and columns

Aim: To create plan views for ground floor level and first-floor level and separate them to architecture and structural plans

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab and select the Plan view tab.

2. Select the structural plan.

3. Select the plan of which you want to create the structural plan and click ok.

4. Go to the project browser and the plan created can be seen under the structural plans

Result: Seperate structural and architecture plans are created.

4) Using annotate toolbar add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file

a. The architecture plan dimensions include details on where the components are placed within the buildings with relation to grids. Overall dimensions are sufficient for architecture plans

b. The Structure plan dimensions must include details on the position of all the walls and interior walls with reference to grids. Locate all the framing components of the building with reference to a fixed point using Structural plans

Aim: To add dimensions to all the walls and floors with reference to the longitudinal and transverse grids created in the project file.

Procedure:

1. Go to architecture tab and select the Grid tool.

2. Add vertical grids, name them with numbers starting from right to left. Add horizontal grids name them with alphabets starting from top to bottom.

3. Using the dimensions tool from annotate toolbar mention the dimensions in between the grids.

4. For architectural plans mention the location of the doors and windows with reference to the grids.

Result: The required architectural and structural plans are drawn.

5) Create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views

Aim: To create a sheet template from the view tab and adjust the parameters on the sheet to add appropriate views

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab and select the sheet tool.

2. Select the sheet you want from the dialog box appeared.

3. Adjust the sheet parameters as required.

Result: The desired sheet has been created.

6) Using the elevation tab create the elevation views, looking at your building from East, North, South, and West

Aim: To create the elevation views, looking at the building from East, North, South, and West

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab, and select the elevation tool

2. Place the view icon and align it to the direction you wish to see the elevation view.

3. Go to the project browser to view the elevation views.

Result: The desired elevation views have been obtained.

7) Produce section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction

Aim: To create section cut through each room either cutting across longitudinally or in a transverse direction

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab and select the section tool

2. Cut the section line through each room in the floor plan

3. Go to the project browser to view the created sections.

Result: The desired sections are obtained and shown below.

8) Classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser

Aim: To classify the views, Plan Views, Section Views, and Elevation views to either Design or Documentation category using Properties browser

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab, and select the sheet tool.

2. Select the dimensions of the sheet from the dialogue box appeared.

3. Now, select the view tool and add the desired view into the sheet

4. Similarly create different sheets for floor plans, elevations and sections

Result: The desired sheets were created.

9) Using the sheet template produced create multiple sheets as follows
a. A 101- Ground Floor Architecture Plan
b. A 102- First Floor Architecture Plan
c. A 103- Roof Plan
d. S 101- Ground Floor Structural Plan
e. S 102- First Floor Structural Plan
f. S 103- Roof Framing Plan
g. A-201- North-South Elevations
h. A-202- East-West Elevations

Add additional sheets based on the sections created in your Revit file

Aim: To create sheets for different plans

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab and select the sheet of appropriate dimesions.

2. Select the view tool and add the different views to different sheets as mentioned.

3. Adjust the parameters within the sheet and rename them as mentioned

4. Adjust the scale using property browser

Result:

The desired sheets have been added.

1. A 101- Ground Floor Architecture Plan

2. A 102- First Floor Architecture Plan

3. A 103- Roof Plan

4. . S 101- Ground Floor Structural Plan

5. S102 -Roof Framing Plan

6. A-201- East-West Elevations

7. A-201- North-South Elevations

A203 - Section views

10) Create a camera-specific view or a 3D view in each room ( living, dining, bedroom). Based on the views create a new set of sheets starting A-501 (you can add as many sheets after, 502, 503.. n)to place the 3D view images. Produce the sheets as a part of project drafting.

Aim: To create sheets for different camera views

Procedure:

1. Go to the view tab and select the sheet of appropriate dimesions.

2. Select the view tool and add the views to different camera views

3. Adjust the parameters within the sheet and rename them as mentioned

4. Adjust the scale using property browser

Result:

The desired sheets have been added.
