3D Creation of Celing, Roof, Architectural plan, Structural plan, Sectional view, Elevation view and Camera specific view for a house plan using REVIT

Question 1) Based on the project saved from Week 3, proceed from the First Floor Level. Model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level

Answer:

Aim: To model a Ceiling from the architecture tab above the walls at the first-floor level.

Introduction:

A ceiling is an overhead interior surface that covers the upper limits of a room. It is not generally considered a structural element, but a finished surface concealing the underside of the roof structure or the floor of a story above.

  • The creation of Ceilings within Revit is a very similar process to that of Floors and Roofs- ie you can let Revit do most of the work and "gress" where you want the boundaries to be.Or you can enter Sketch Mode and literally sketch out the boundary of the ceiling yourself.
  • The main thing to remember is to be in the Connect Ceiling Plan View before you start. Revit will let you place Ceilings in Floor Plan

In this Revit Architecture tutorial, I am going to show you how to create Ceiling elements both “Automatically” and by means of the “sketch method”.

  • TYPES OF DRAWING:

    1. Creating Ceilings automatically
    2. Creating Ceilings by Sketch
    3. Aligning Suspended Ceiling Grids

Just like Floors and Roofs, Revit Ceilings consist of 3D model geometry and non-graphical parametric data. They are created by use of the dedicated Ceiling tool. There are 2 methods of creating Ceilings- each with their own pros and cons, which I will explain at the end of the tutorial. To make this tutorial a little more realistic, I have created a simple building to which we can add some Ceiling elements

Procedure:

STEP-1: Opening Week 3 Project

Open Revit Software

From recent projects Open 'My Home Architectural'

STEP-2:

  • First we open the revit sofware, and select the ceiling option from the architecture toolbar.

STEP-3: Creating a ceiling

From the project, browser click and open the first-floor plan view

Go to Architectural Tab

Click on Ceiling to model the ceiling for the first floor

Select the type as 2'X4' ACT System

  • Select the required area of the ceiling as shown below

ceiling is created at required area

Result:

The height offset of the ceiling is changed from the properties of the ceiling. The result after placing the ceiling over the first floor is shown below.

Question 2) Model a roof above the ceiling by selecting the footprints of the ceiling. Using the adjustment toolbars appearing on-screen adjust the roof slope to 10 degrees

Answer:

Aim: To Model a Roof to the first-floor ceiling

Introduction:

A roof is a top covering of a building, including all materials and constructions necessary to support it on the walls of the building or uprights, protecting against rain, snow, sunlight, extremes of temperature, and wind. A roof is part of the building envelope.

  • Roof, covering of the top of a building, serving to protect against rain snow, sunlight wind, and extremes of temperature
  • Roofs have been constructed in a wide variety of forms flat, pitched, vaulted, domed, or in combinations as dictated by technical. economic, or aesthetic considerationsThe earliest roofs constructed by man were probably thatched roofs that were made of straw.
  • leaves, branches, or reeds; they were usually set at a slope, or pitch, so that rainfall could drain off them.
  • Conical thatched roofs are a good example of this type and are still widely used in the rural areas of Africa and elsewhere
  • Thicker branches and timbers eventually came to be used to span a roof, with clay or some other relatively impermeable substance pressed into the interstices between them.
  • Gabled and flat roofs were possible with these materials. With the invention of brick and cut stone for building, the basic roof formo of the dome and vault appeared.

Procedure:

STEP-1: Opening Week 3 Project

Open Revit Software

From recent projects Open 'My Home Architectural'

STEP-2: Creating Roof over the first floor

Open First Floor Plan in the Project Browser

From the project browser click and open the first-floor plan view

Go to Architectural Tab

Click on the Roof tab to model the roof for the first floor

Select the type as 'Generic 9" Roof'

  • Select the required area of the roof as shown below

I have change color of walls

Result:

The base level is set to Roof Level. The roof after creation is as follows.
