Sketch a G+1 residential plan according to Vaastu Shastra and Calculation of Loads as per IS code

Sketch a G+1 Floor residential Plan according to vastu shastra, and list down the names of the structural drawing required to be provided to the site for construction.

Answer:- Aim & Introduction: Aim is to sketch a G+1 floor residential plan according to vaastu shastra & list down the structural drawing required the site of construction

Assume size of structural member such as column, beam, slab & also calculate load of members according to IS code.

Dimension Of Ground Floor Plan

Bedroom -3x4.5

Toilet -3.25x1.2

Bath -2.4x1.2

W/C -1.2x1

Dimension of First Floor Plan

Guest Room -4.3x3

Study Room -3x3

Bedroom 3x4.5

Toilet -3.25x1.2

Bath -2.4x1.2

W/C -1.2x1

Other Dimension

Thickness of internal wall -0.15(150mm)

Thickness of external wall -0.23(230mm)

Thickness of slab -0.25(250mm)

Dimension of column -0.3x0.3

Vaastu Shashtra

Entrance of house should be provided east direction which provides progress in life

Living room should be placed north-east direction

Masterbedroom placed south west direction this direction provides good health & prosperity

Kitchen is placed in south east direction

Study room should be placed in east direction

Bathroom ,WC, Toilet should placed in west direction.

A) Calculation of Dead load on structural element

1. Column

Column are provided in all corner of building are of same size.

Considering 11 columns in plan

lets assume the height of column to be 3m

Dead load:

Volume of concrete =0.3x0.3x3

=0.27m^3

Unit Weight of RCC =25KN/m^3

Unit weight of building material used in construction works as per IS (Part I)

Dead load of column =25x0.27

=6.75 KN

Since we considered same size of column so dead impose on 1 column will be 6.75 KN

2. Beam

According to the plan we considered 14 beams, 5 beams are assumed to be 2m height & 9 beam are of 1m

Dimension of beam 0.3x0.45

Total volume, 2m= 0.3x0.45x2

= 0.27m^3

Total Volume, 1m =0.3x0.45x1

= 0.135m^3

Unit weight of RCC = 25KN/m^3

Dead load of beam, 1m = Unit Weight x Volume

= 25x0.135

=3.375 KN

Dead load of beam, 2m = Unit Weight x Volume

= 25 x0.27

= 6.75 KN

3. Slab

Slab is always designed for span of 1m we assume size of slab 1mx1m

thickness of slab= 0.25m

Density of RCC 25KN/m^3

Self weight of slab= 0.25x25

=6.25KN/m^2

4. Wall

Dead load of External Wall

Thickness of external wall= 0.23(230mm)

Unit weight of brick wall =20KN/m^2

Height of wall= 3m

load of wall on beam =3x0.23x20

=13.8KN/m

Dead load of Internal Wall

Thickness of internal wall =0.15m(150mm)

Unit weight of brick wall =20KN/m^3

Height of wall =3m

Load of wall on beam =3x0.15x20

=9KN/m

B) Live Load

Bedroom -2KN/m^2

Living Rooom-2KN/m^2

Bath -2KN/m^2

Balcony -3KN/m^2

Toilet -2KN/m^2

Staircase -3KN/m^2

Study Room -2KN/m^2

Kitchen -2KN/m^2

C) Wind Load

Wind load is designed only when the height of building exceeds 10m

since height of designed building 6m(3m + 3m) which is less than 10m.

Reference Code:

IS875:1987 Part 1 for dead load

IS875:1987 Part 2 for live load

IS875:1987 Part 3 for wind load

IS456:2000 for RCC

Result:

The plan is prepared as per vaastu shashtra concept and considering all principles & consideration.

Load calculation & assumption are done as per IS Code.
