WIRING HARNESS ROUTING AND PACKAGING
AIM :
1. ELECTRICAL SUPPORT:
Electrical support is a electrical component which is used to clamp and hold the electrical bundle wire to the automotive body where clamp is fixed by screw.
There are wide variety of clamps called P clamp, Sticky clamp, furr tree, stud type, hole mounted type clamps.
In this challenge we are using the P type clamp :
- First the model is imported in to cad software or it is designed.
- Then edit parameters like entry point and plane, exit point and plane and base plane.
- In this clamps the bundle is entered from both sides of the clamp as it is same.
- Then support is defined for the clamp in the electrical part workbench where entry point and exit points were defined from both the sides i.e, two times.
2. BACKSHELL :
- These are the plastic molded parts used at wire entry side of connectors for protection or to improve the asthetic apperance of electrical harness.
- This shells were not a mandatory parts and are optional.
The backshell which is worked on is shown below:
- First the point and axis parameters were created for connector connection point.
- Then back shell part is defined in the electrical part workbench.
- Then connector connection point is defined and also bundle connection point is also defined.
3. COT TUBES :
Cot tubes or corrugated/convolutes/sleeves are the type of coverings used to protect the wiring harness.
The covering were applied on the bundles in the form of graphical representation.
Procedure:
In the process of creating Cot tubes the main parameter is inner dia and thickness.
First the cot tube is created by defining the part body.
Then in the electrical part design protective covering is defined with Inner dia, thickness and bend radius as input parameters.
Then a catalogue is created in the family name of Slit cot.
Then these parts is stored in that slit cot catalogue.
And in the same way all the cot tubes were created and added into the Slit cot catalogue.
