Challenge

Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 5 & 6 Challenge

HARNESS ROUTING

To route the harness layout given in electrical workbench. After completing harness routing check the bundle continuity and add annotations.

Given Harness layout

1. Routing of Harness B

  • Routing of Harness B consist of 5 connectors.
  • First step is to make all the components as electrical by using define connector command.

Connector 1

Connector 2

Connector 3

Connector 4

Connector 5

  • Second step is to make product file and import all the parts in that file. After importing connectors , move it to appropriate positions.
  • Third step is to make bundle segment between connectors. Create branch point where ever needed.

2. Routing of Harness A

  • Routing of Harness A consist of 5 connectors.
  • First step is to make all the components as electrical by using define connector command.

Connector 6

Connector 7

Connector 8

Connector 9

Connector 10

  • Second step is to make product file and import all the parts in that file. After importing connectors , move it to appropriate positions.
  • Third step is to make bundle segment between connectors. Create branch point where ever needed.

4. Add Annotations to Connectors.

5. Interconnection of Harness

  • To Interconnect harness A and B , new product file has to be created and Harness A & B added to it.
  • Connect connector 5 & 6 using connect electrical devices command from Electrical Harness assembly workbench.

6. Convert CAT PRODUCT file into CAT PART file.

Conversion can be done using geometric CAT part from product tool.

Also saved igs. file.

CONCLUSION :

Routing of Harness A and B done both harness interconnected , Annotations added to connectors and product file converted to part file.
