Wiring harness design in CATIA V5 - 3D modeling Week 4 Challenge

Automotive Wiring Harness using CATIA V5

REPORT

Assignment-11

By Ravi Ahuja

Objective: To Route the following harness layout in Electrical workbench. Making assumption for harness bundle diameters.

Methodology:

First of all I downloaded all the connectors in igs format amd then saved them in CAT part file. Then I creted an assembly with the name "Assy_Wiring_harness_Context" then I added aproduct in this assembly with the name "Assy_Geomectrical_Bundle".

Then I started importing Connector part files and started definig them if any of them were not electrically defined like the previous assugnments. By creating points at both bundle entry point and axis systems at the connector connection point. Then defining these points and axes accordingly in electrical part design workbench.

Then I imported the all ready connector prt files in the "Assy_Geomectrical_Bundle" product and placed them according to the diagram.

Then I switched the workbench to electric harness assembly workbench.

Then I selected the option named as geomectric bundle and then selected the product on the feature tree to define the product as a electrical assembly.

Then I selected the multibranchable feature below geomectric bundle feature and then it enters the multi branchable workbench and then again cliccked on multi branchable then a dialog box appeared. I entered the specifications of the bundle like Diameter- 10mm, Bend radius ratio-1.4, Slack-0 and

then clicked on Route definition to select the connectors and arrange the orientation of the bundle by clicking on reverse tangent.
