It is generally a receptacle that receives & hold the male connector.sometimes the terms plug & socket or jack are used particularly in referance to electrical connector.

Male connector have a sries of prongs or "pins" that originate from a small base or adaptor

1). Female connector-(DT06-08SA)

TE Internal discription: PLG,8P,GRY,N,A.

Housing type- Housing for female terminals.

Mating pin diameter- 1.59 mm.

It is a deutsch DT series 8 way female receptacle connector DT06-08SA with W8S. its operating temperature range is varies between the -40℃～120℃ & wire gauge range is varies between the 14-20AWG.

Application

it is used for harsh environment applications,like,trucks,buses,off highway,construction,agriculture,mining emergency vehicle,forestry,recreational marine & motorcycle.

It is a 3 way single circuit application & having a housing feature include a 4.8 mm pitch & its operating temprature varies between the -30℃～105℃.

A range of Econoseal J 070 series waterproof receptacle and plug style automotive wire connector housings. The wire seals for these automotive connector housings can be loaded at the same time as the contacts are crimped and cavity plugs can be used to plug up unused cavities. The design of these receptacle and plug style wire connector housings allows mis-mating to be prevented thus avoiding contact damage. These Econoseal J 070 series automotive housings also have a plate inserted to detect the half-mating of contacts and a double lock feature.
