Week 9- Unsteady moving zones Approach
AIM:
To simulate the motion of blades in a generic turbomachinery component using an unsteady approach.
OBJECTIVE:
- Assume blade rotation at 300rpm
- Choose an appropriate time step for the simulation and generate an animation file for the rotation.
SETUP & SOLUTION:
- Import the mesh file in the fluent as shown below,

- Use the Moving Frame method for the simulation first and follow the steps in the video to set up the simulation.
- General Settings

- Cell zone conditions as follows:

- Assume blade rotation at 300rpm:

- Boundary condition as follows:

- Finally, the solution model:

RESULT:
For Frame Motion Method:
- RESIDUAL:

- MASS FLOW RATE:

- PRESSURE CONTOUR:

- VELOCITY CONTOUR:

Results For Mesh Motion Method:
- RESIDUAL:

- PRESSURE CONTOUR:

- VELOCITY CONTOUR:

CONCLUSION:
- Hence the simulation of the motion blades in a generic turbomachinery component using an unsteady approach is done.
