Week 9 - Project - A pillar Design with Master Section

A PILLAR DESIGN

CLASS A SURFACE

It is the surface which is given to the plastic designer as input.it is the outer most and aesthetic surface.

CLASS B SURFACE

A surface that is at a distance of thickness from class A surface is class B surface.all engineering features are contained in B surface.

CLASS C SURFACE

A surface that joints class A and class B is called C surface.

TOOLING AXIS

  • The tooling direction is used to find the direction in which the part is ejected out of the mold.
  • First look at the part in all views and check which is the most appropriate direction for the tool axis.
  • Since the master section for this part is given we can make the tool axis from the master section.from master section we can see that this part contain dog house.so we can take extract from the edges of dog houseand bisect them to get the tooling axis.

SIDE CORE TOOLING AXIS

  • Since this part contain attachment features we need a side tool axis for ejection of side core.
  • And it is taken in the perpendicular direction of the dog house.

DRAFT ANALYSIS

  • Draft analysis is done to check whether the part designed is manufacturable or not.
  • Minimum draft angle considered is 3*.
  • For analysis goto insert>analysis>feature draft analysis.
  • Then place the compass on the tooling axis and click on the part.

DRAFT ANALYSYS ON CLASS A SURFACE

  • All areas are 3 degree exept the area shown below which has manimum value 2.7 degree.
