Week 9 - Project - A pillar Design with Master Section
Aim : To create the " A Pillar" plastic component with B-Side fetures with the given Class A Surface and the master section curves as an input. The created plastic component is checked to meet the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.
A) Creation of A Pillar Plastic Body
Step 1: Creating the Tooling Axis
- Tooling Axis is created by extracting the curves of the master section as it is known that the B - Side features are said to be created with respect to the tooling axis only.
- Two lines are ectracted and then a point is created on one of the extracted line of the dog house master section.
- Then a line is created using bisecting method by bisecting the 2 extracted lines and with respect to the point.
- The draft analysis is done to the created Tooling Axis and is said to cleared with draft angle of 3 DEGREES

Step 2: Creating the Class B Surface
- The Class B Surface is created by extracting the Surfaces and then offseting it to a distance of 2.5mm.
- The distance is determined by checking the master section given and the is measured to be 2.5mm.
- The part which is not offsetted is created using sweep feature.
- Finally the created B Surfacei sthen checked for draft analysis.

Step 3: Creating the Class C Surface
- The Class C Surface is created by creating a boundary on the Class A Surface.
- Then by using the sweep tool the Class C Surface is created.

B) B-Side Features: Dog House & Ribs
Step 1: Creating a Dog House
- With the master section projected by creating datum a sketch is created.
- The created sketch is Extruded and then another sketch is created on the right side.
- Then by creating a body and using the Thickness option in the part workbench the extruded is thickened.
- And then splited with the Top cut out, Front & back of the Dog House.

Step 2: Creating the Ribs
- With the master section projected by creating datum a sketch is created.
- The created sketch is Extruded and thickened with the thickness option in the Part Workbench.

Final Trims:
- The A Pillar is finally added to the Body.
- Then the Dog House and the Ribs are union trimmed to the Plastic Component and the final result is checked with draft analysis.
- Draft Analysis with Tooling Axis

- Draft Analysis with Side Core Axis
