Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Trim Lower with Engineering Features
DOOR TRIM LOWER WITH ENGINEERING FEATURES
AIM:
Create the Door Trim Plastic component through the given Class-A surface with engineering features(HEAT STAKE). To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.

TOOLING AXIS:
There are two different methods that we can use to create the Main Tooling Axis for our Class A Surface. When we're trying to create our Main Tooling Axis we always have to focus on the direction in which we're going to create the Main Tooling Axis.

DRAFT ANALYSIS OF CLASS A SURFACE:
CLASS B-SURFACE:
The Class B Surface resides below the Class A Surface at a certain thickness. It is created using Engineering Principles that consist of all the necessary features such as Ribs, Bosses, Snaps, etc. This surface isn't visible to the observer from the outside.

CLASS C-SURFACE:
The Class C Surface is the surface created between the Class A and Class B surface to join them with each other.

FINAL PART:
Finally we get final part from the given class A surface. If that the part as shown in below.

ADDED ENGINEERING FEATURE:
HEAT STAKE:
Heat staking also known as thermoplastic staking is the process of joining two dissimilar materials together. In heat staking we use local heating and cooling to raise the temperature of plastic components and allow plastic reforming to be carried out. This reforming can be used in a wide variety of applications.

LOCATOR:
Locators provide a positive stop for the workpiece. Placed against the stop, the workpiece cannot move. Clamps, on the other hand, rely only upon friction between the clamp and the clamped surface to hold the workpiece. Sufficient force could move the workpiece.
It has many type of locator but we provide the four way locator. It as shown in below.

FINAL PART WITH ENGINEERING FEATURE:

DRAFT ANALYSIS OF THE FINAL PART:

CONCLUSION:
Design the Door trim lower of class B surface and class C surface with engineering feature. the draft analysis also perform along the door trim lower.
