Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

Report

Aim:

Create the Door Applique Plastic component through the given Class-A surface. To begin with, the tooling axis for the given Class-A Surface should be created meeting the requirements of the draft angle and at the end perform the Draft analysis on the model.

Create the Heat Stakes and the locators considering the design rules mentioned in the video for the door applique.

Procedure:

import geometry:

create tooling axis: extract a surface on A surface, create a point on surface in 0 distance, create a tooling axis on Y direction

create b surface

extract surfaces on A surface, offset 2.5mm, untrim them and extrapol, trim them together and give an edge fillet

create c surface: extract A surface boundary, sweep it with 3 degree along tooling axis, extrapol it

trim A,B,C surfaces together

create a body with close surfaces

create 4 way and 2 way locators

create sketch on the surface

pad them, give draft angle, chamfer and fillet, then union trim with main body, translate a 4 way location to the right side of the body. Same with the 2 way locator

create heat stakes

create parallel curves and creat points on it for heat stakes

use one point for example to create heat stake

pad them all and give fillet and union trim with main body

counter part clearance

thicken the door attachment surface, remove parts from the thicken body

final part
