Challenge

Week 9 - Project 1 - Door Applique Design with Engineering Features

Aim: Creating Heat stakes and locators to the given Door.

Procedure: For we have to perform draft analysis for the given class A and then create calss b and c surface to it.

  • To perform draft analysis create point on the surface as shown below and draw a line through point on Y direction.

  • After creating tooling axis perform draft analysis for the given class A

  • Now we will create Class A and Class B surfaces make intp solid of thickness 2.5mm.
  • After creating a solid surface we have to start working on locators and heat stakes.

Heat staking also known as thermoplastic staking is the process of joining two dissimilar materials together. In heat staking we use local heating and cooling to raise the temperature of plastic components and allow plastic reforming to be carried out

  • By usigng locators we will arrest the 11 DOF and remaining 1 DOF is locked by Heat stakers.

  • After creating heat stakers and locaters we should create cleareance holes for locators and heat stakes on the door panel.
  • The clearance should be near to 1mm.

  • After creating holes we have to preform draft analysis.
