Challenge

Week 9 - Challenge 3 - Bumper

Aim: Create the Bumper plastic component using the class A surface

Procedure:

1) Performing the basic check

2) Creating the Tooling axis

3) Performing draft analysis on Class A surface

4) Creation of Class B surface

5) Creation of Class C surface

6) Creation of Close Surface

7) Draft Analysis on Close Surface

1) Performing the basic check:

2) Creating the Tooling axis:

Extract the number plate which is a flat surface, then we will create the point at the center of the number plate. Then we will create the line pependicular to the surface and which will pass through the point.

Then We will Perform the draft analysis on Class A surface.

Different views of draft analysis of class A surface:

4) Creation of Class B surface

Procedure:

Offset: We will offset the Class A surface by 3mm. Due to this some of the fillets will be lost we need to create a new fillet at that points.

how will we create the new fillets?

1) First we wil have to extract the part from Class A surface which are to be made.

Example, Radiator

Using the join command to remove the elements.

Creating the boundary:

Extracting the surface from Class A surface and offseting for 3 mm

Extracting the surface:

Trim

Fillet

Similarly we have to create the fillets at the upper area and number plate

4) Creation of Class B surface

5) Creation of Class C surface

We will join Class A and Class C surface:

Find the intersection of Class B surface with A and C Surface:

Trim B surface with A and C surface:

6) Creation of Close Surface: Performing the close surface command:

Conclusion: In this challenge we have learned how to create the bumper from class A surface with extrpolate and untrim the surface.

We have also done the draft analysis on the close surface of bumper
