Week 9 - Challenge 3 - Bumper

BUMPER MODEL

Tooling axis:-

In order to proceed with the analysis, the first step is to establish a tooling axis. The tooling axis is essential for assessing the condition of the input surface. Conducting a draft analysis is crucial to evaluate the surface.

Various methods can be employed to create a tooling axis, such as the direct method or the bisecting method. In this case, the direct method was chosen due to its ability to easily clear the surface. The tooling axis was successfully created using the direct method (please refer to the image below).

It is important to note that the input surface provided is a Class-A surface, typically associated with the aesthetic appearance of automotive parts (as depicted in the image below).

Draft analysis:-

To evaluate the designed bumper, I conducted an analysis by incorporating a draft angle of 3 degrees. By implementing this angle, the bumper predominantly eliminates any contact with the surface, as depicted in the accompanying image.
