Week 9 Challenge

  1. To create the undercut for the first single hole, open the core block seperatly and make all edges transperant.
  2. make sketch on the hole face and traingle was drawn covering the hole fully.
  3. then using split menu, sketch and face of the sketch was selected to create the seperate slider block.
  4. since hole and slot was not covered in slider, select the face of slider to start the sketch and using convert entities hole was made. Boss extrude command was used and also slider body was selected in feature scope. hole and slot extrude was made seperately.
  5. chamfer in the slot was given accordingly to match the component.
  6. Now extra material was added using move face and boss extrude command at the top of slider to create the wedge.
  7. 5mm collor was added on the both sides of the slider. Now extra material after the wedge end was removed.
  8. Slider was inserted in seperate part file and saved as parasolid.
  9. now in core block using combine command slider block was subtracted from the main core block.
  10. clearance to the slider block was made using move face command.
  11. To provide base for washers, rectangle sketch was made at the base of collor at 20 mm away from the collor edge. Using mirror command opp side sketch was also made and cut extrude command was used to cut through the entire core block.
  12. Now in assembly file, new part file is created and saved externally as slider_01 and slider block was imported in that part file,
  13. Cavity block is opened and slider was imported in it.
  14. extra material was created in the cavity block to match the core block by creating the rectangle sketch & extruding it upto the vertex of slider and also in another direction.
  15. Now the slider block was subtracted from the cavity block using combine menu.
  16. Required fillets were given to slider, core block and cavity block.
  17. Same procedures were followed for creating sliders for another 2 undercuts. But in this undercuts sliders were made seperately at core and cavity block & then combined into single slider.
  18. Inserts are to be created at core block because, depth of the side wall cut is more that 15mm and also very small width.
  19. initially core block was increased by 50mm height. and plane was created 20mm below the lower end of the component.
  20. rectangle sketch was made at the created plane to create the insert. Split command was used to create the insert. Same method was followed to create another insert.
