Project 2
- The given model of CPU fan bezel was analyzed and scaled as per its shrinkage value(0.6%).
- Parting line and parting surfaces were created after creating shut off surfaces at holes and other areas wherever required.
- Now the part is taken into the new assembly to create core and cavity block.
- In assembly two new parts are created from Assembly-->Insert Components-->New part and renamed as Core & Cavity. Both the parts are saved externally by right clicking and selecting save option.
- Core part is selected and edit part option was used to create the core block.
- Sketch was made on the top plane to create 2D and 3D surfaces of the core block.
- Extrude command is used to create the inner 3D part.
- After that offset surface of the core surface in first part was created. This is made to create the 3D surface cut.
- Now with the help of cut with surface command Core surface cut was made.
- Required color was given and saved.
- Similarly, cavity block was made by following the same steps as of core block.
- Thus core and cavity block was created. Sliders are to be created because of the undercuts in base part.
- Sketch profile of one slider was made on top of the core block.
- Using split command from direct editing, Sketch and plane was selected. Cut bodies was used to cut the slider part.
- Now separate sketch profile were created and same steps were followed to create remaining 3 sliders.
- Keeping core part hidden changes in slider was made. Slider length, width & height was altered as required.
- wedge was made at the slider end keeping 30 deg angle and length 1/3rd.
- Slider copy was made using direct editing menu. And then using combine menu shape of slider was made by subtracting the copy of slider with main core body.
- Slider parts were made into separate part files by using insert into new part file command.
- Since separate part files were made the slider blocks in core part was deleted using delete block from direct editing menu.
- Core block was saved and cavity block was edited as per all 4 slider block by importing the slider block into core part and then subtracting it.
- Now the assembly file was opened and new part was created in the name of slider. In that new part the slider was imported and saved externally.
- All 4 sliders are inserted in assembly block with same steps.
- Locking mechanism was made in core part for all 4 sliders and small grove was also made in slider blocks.
- Model mold part in core block is separated from the core block due to small width groves.
- Core and Cavity slide guide were made by altering both core and cavity with 2mm clearance on vertical sliding area.
- Start a sketch on the plane along the tooling direction. make a sketch of 6mm dia circle throughout the component.
- using extrude cut command create the hole.
- using the same sketch make the ejector pins by using the extrude command by keeping offset away from the plane.
- make a relief for the ejector pins by extending the hole on the core block to 6.95 mm to certain distance.
- D shaped pin head is made on ejectors at inclined surfaces and circular head ejectors were made at flat surfaces.
- Now ejector plate was made above the ejector pin head as separate body. Also relief for ejector pin head and ejector pin made with 12mm dia and 6.95mm dia.
- Ejector back plate was made with same dimensions as ejector plate.
- To make the Sprue edit the cavity block. on the flat face of the cavity block make the 120mm dia circle at some distance away from origin and make extrude cut of 12mm depth.
- make 6.8mm dia circle and make cut through with draft towards core block.
- now edit the core block and make sprue puller at the end of sprue with depth of 5mm.
- Now to create the runner, create the sketch on top face of the core block. a line was sketched and extruded.
- Also draft of certain deg on all bottom surfaces of the runner block was made.
- fillets were added on vertical and bottom faces of the block.
- edge gate block was made on using extrude command, draft command and cut extrude command.
- With the help of combine menu runner block was subtracted from the core block.
- a surface area along the runner end was made with loft surface menu to check the area.
- Now to make air vent sketch was made on top of the core block and relief was made upto the core and cavity block relief area using extrude cut menu.
- Now cooling channels for the component has to be made.
- Again edit the core block. from hole wizard command select the Socket head cap screw (M10) and inlet & outlet holes were made on the core block.
- More cooling channels were made with hole wizard command as required.
