Week 9 - Challenge 1 - Base Bracket Design
DRAFT :
When a design a product with core and cavity method, the one important aspect we need to ensure is the draft.
Draft is nothing but the taper angle or draft angle given to the core cavity model. This is done because if the model is straight and perpendicular to the core then while ejecting the mould cause friction along the walls of the core and the mould part, it leads to the damage of the mould on continuous production.
So the draft given to the core and cavity mould, would help the mould part to eject from the core easily.
The nominal draft angle followed for designing the moulded components be- 3 deg. while in case of rib/fasterne holes 0.5-1 deg can be followed ,but it will cost more in production.
While designing complex models with ribs or stiffener we use side core, which mainly acts perpendicular in direction with the tooling axis.
TOOLING DIRECTION AXIS:
Tooling axis is nothing but in which direction should the product/mould be created. We can create the tooling axis with bisceting method. For that we need to select the appropriate axis to the tooling direction and a plane to which we intersect the class A surface.

Majorily the surface parallel and inlcined to the tooling axis is diificult to produce ,so create two line inclined to surface from the intersection curve.
And using bisect line command create the tooling axis with these two lines.

DRAFT ANALYSIS:
This analysis is done to check whether our designed product is manufacturable or not. With the refernce to the tooling direction axis only we can able to do the draft analysis in CAD.So that we can ensure our component is good to producibility, with the desired draft condition we required.
DRAFT ANALYSIS ON CLASS A SURFACE:

After clearing draft analysis of class A surface we go on creating the class B surface and class C . the thickness of the part is 2.5mm
