Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation (Ribs & Screw Boss) - Challenge 1

DOOR HANDLE:

AIM: Creating a Rib and Screw boss for the given class A surface of door handle.

In the given question they have given Class A surface, I have to create class B and C surface with thickness of 2.5mm.

1. Tooling Axis: I have created tooling axis in the middle of A surface by taking axis system on surface.

2. Draft analysis of Class A surface: I have created draft analysis according to the method. It's all correct but for some areas the draft has not been given for class A surface. so where there is no draft it shows in red and whichever is drafted it shows in green.

3. Creation of B surface: Offset the A surface with 2.5mm thickness and fill the gaps created in B surface. Thats your B surface. and extrapolate the B surface to intersect with C surface.

4. Creation of C surface: Extract the edges of the A surface and create sweep with suitable sweep option. and extrapolate the c surface to intersect with B surface.

B+C surface: Trime B surface with C surface.

A+B+C surface: Join the A surface with B+C surface, that's your final trim (final product)

Go to Part design and make the final trim close body.

Now creation of RIB and SCREW BOSS according to the rules given in question.

RIB Design:

t=2.5mm

draft=0.5 degree

rib fillet=0.25mm

w=0.4*2.5=1mm

minimum rib tip thickness=0.75

Rib height=h=5*t

h=5*2.5=12.5

create a sketch for rib and make it solid. and union trim it with main body.

SCREW BOSS Design:

w=0.6*t=0.6*2.5=1.5mm one side

rib fillet radius=0.25 max

draft=0.5 degree

height to diameter ratio=3:1=12.5mm

Create a sketch and the create pad according to rules. assemble it with main body.

Now Draft analysis the final product:

change the setting of degree to 0.45degree..
