Challenge

Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

REPORT

ABSTRACT: In this challenge I again used the critical inhertiance from the orginal part of the coin holder. I am designing extra features on the base of coin holder for proper connection in the gate. The other important features are known as main screw boss and dog house. Both of these are located on the base part of coin holder and next to the earlier feature which I designed in earlier challenge. It is known as Ribs.

INTRODUCTION: The approach to counter the propblem in this challenge is isolated step wise design with proper rule and regulations during the application of features. In this design dog house is created with screw boss. The main purpose of dog house is to protect the surface from SINK MARKS. In this designing of dog house we required exact coordinates and proper uniform surface. After that there is a rule of designing and we need to place screw boss on the top of dog house.

The main components are as:

1. Screw Boss:

2. Dog House:

METHODOLOGY: To take this challenge, I used break-up phase method to meet my objective. I started with designing of major screw bosses on multiple locations after that I designed the dog house on one of the screw boss and then shift its original location to prepare it according to the requirements.

I used multiple tooling axis and Surface A base extract to get a required amount of draft on every surfaces. After that for initial curvatures I used inside angled Sweep to develope the initial surface. The end result of designed product is looks like:

The side core tooling axis for other surfaces draft is:

RESULTS:

The major results we obtained is in the form draft analysis and the other minimum draft angle which is required is as follows:

1. SOLID BODY (with proper including features)

In this draft analysis the angle is kept is 0.48 degree and result is the above draft analysis. In the second case I am deviating the angle fromm 0.48 to 1.49 degree. The result is as follows:

The final range is from 1.49 degrees to 3 degree and the final results in the draft analysis is we get is as:

The final draft analysis of the final design of COIN HOLDER is :

So the final acceptable angle is 0.48 degrees.

DRAFT ANALYSIS ON SIDE CORE AXIS:

After completing the draft analysis on main tooling axis we left with one more axis and that is side core axis. We also need to perform the draft analysis on the side core axis. The results for the draft analysis of the side core axis is:\

So in this analysis also the final acceptable angle is .48 degrees.
