Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

1. Creation of Dog house:

The dog house is a supporting feature for screw bosses to avoid sick marks in components also to get enough height for screw bosses for mating it with other components.

Design rules for doghouse design:

Doghouse wall thickness at the intersection of the part wall should be 40% or less than the main wall stock ( T ) which is 1mm.

The height at the intersection is between 3-6.0mm I chose height as 4.5mm

Draft value is 1.5 deg, and fillet value is 0.25mm.

The preferred width to height ratio is 2:1 for my case I have a width of 20mm and a height of 10mm.

2. Creation of Screw boss:

considering M6 as a screw then, the core diameter is 5mm, screw boss thickness is typically 40 to 50 % of wall thickness which is 1mm.

The height of the screw boss is 4.5mm

Draft value 0.5deg.

fillet value - 0.25mm

Draft Analysis :

The faces that are in blue are 0 deg draft from the class A surface. It also shows that area in green are clearing the required draft.
