Challenge

Week 9 - Attachment Feature Creation - Challenge 2

Challenge is to create a closure part and then create dog house on the part.

Door trim closure surface part with dog house constructed pictures below. First the Door trim B & C surfaces were created and then closure part of Door trim created. The the Dog house1 and 2 created following the guidelines and given parameters.

Tooling axis creation

To create the tooling axis, a point on the surface is selected and then a intersection sketch is extracted between the Class A and one of the plane. With this sketch as reference, two lines are created on the side wall lines. Then a bisecting line between the two lines is drawn. This is considered as temporary tooling axis 1. The purple line is temporary tooling axis1.

Similarly intersection lines are created on the perpendicular plane to the first plane used. Thus we get the sectional curves of the component on two perpendicular planes. Again two side wall lines are used to create line for reference and with this reference lines a bisecting line is drawn and this is considrered as tempory tooling axis2. The cyan line is temporary tooling axis2

Finally a bisecting line between the temporary axis1 purple line and temporary axis 2 the cyan line is drawn which is considered the final tooling axis. The below picture shows the bisecting line of two temporary axis.

Below the draft analysis of the class A with reference to the final tooling axis.

In the above picture you see some of the area around the emboss projection the draft is not sufficient and less than 1 degree. So an additional draft angle is provided in this particular area and the picture is as below.

The tooling axis for the dog house is considered the horizantal line. The dog house is created with reference to this axis.
