Week 8 Worm Gear Challenge

OBJECTIVE:

To perform a transient structural analysis on a worm gear assembly. For the challenge, you have to rotate the worm and get results for Equivalent stress, Equivalent elastic strain and the total deformation in the model

Case setup and Execution :

1. In Workbench , select transient structural.

2. Import the geometry and do correction if required.

3. Open mechanical module.

Rename the geometry.

4. Create a frictionless contact with contact and target as shown below.

5. create 2 revolute joints as below.

6. generate mesh.

7. set analysis setting as shown below.

8. set joint load as shown below.

9. run the solution.

Result and conclusion:

Equivalent stress: max= 2496.6 Mpa
