Week- 8 - Solid meshing
Objective
- Main Objective is to check for the geometrical errors and mesh the Surfaces with the given 2D element Quality criterias. To use tetra elements to mesh the Volumes defined in the model and check for the quality after Volume meshing.
Procedures
- CAD model was exported to ANSA and the geometric errors were checked and rectified. Used @MENUBAR>TOOLS>CHECKS>GEOMETRY and @TOPO>HOTPOINTS/FACES/CONS.
- Switched to @MESH>PERIMETERS>LENGTH>PERIMETERS/MACROS for model refinement.
- 'Mesh Parameters' and 'Quality Criteria' were entered @MENUBAR>MESH PARAMETERS/QUALITYCRITERIA>TARGET LENGTH/ELEMENT TYPE/SHELLS/SOLIDS.
- Used @MESH>MESH GENERATION/SHELL MESH to deploy mesh and impove the quality at the selected area.
- Each part was 2D meshed and volume was assigned @VOLUME MESH>VOLUMES>DEFINE>VISIBLE.
- 'Tetra Rapid' mesh was deployed as volume mesh using @VOLUME MESH>VOLUMES>LIST>right click select and 'Mesh'.
- All 'Quality Criteria' was refined and rectified.
Screenshots
- CAD model exported @Sample 1 and after error rectification @Sample 2.
- Parts individual mesh was deployed @Sample 3,4,5 and 6.
- Final part before and after volume mesh deplosion @Sample 7 and 8.
- Crossection of volume mesh deployed final part @Sample 9.
Conlusion
- 'Tetra Rapid' option @VOLUME MESH>UNSTRUCTURED MESH was used to deploy tetra elements across the volume of the given model.
- Better to proceed with using 'Tetra Mesh' as the time taken to deploy is much lesser compared to working with 'Hexa Mesh'.
