Week - 5 - 2D meshing for Plastic components

Objective

  • Main objective is to take the midsurface of all the components after eleminating the geometric errors and to further proceeding with meshing upon the midsurface within the given quality criteria.

Procedures

  • CAD model was exported to ANSA and the geometric errors were checked and rectified. Used @MENUBAR>TOOLS>CHECKS>GEOMETRY and @TOPO>HOTPOINTS/FACES/CONS.
  • Midsurface extraction was done @FACES>MIDDLE/OFFSET, the property was also assigned to the extracted surface @MENUBAR>PROPERTIES>NEW ASSIGN.
  • All the given criteria were added @MENUBAR>QUALITY CRITERIA/MESH PARAMETERS.
  • Switched to 'Classic Mesh' and used Mesh Generation, Elements and Shell Mesh for midsurface meshing.
  • Tried to reduce the trias%.
  • All the errors faced were rectified using Num+/-, Insert, Delete, Cut, Release, Paste, Reconstruct, Smooth and Split.
  • All the elements were released @ELEMENTS>RELEASE.

Screenshots

  • CAD model exported @Sample 1.
  • After midplane extraction at each components sucessfully @Sample 2.
  • Meshed each given components sucessfully @Sample 3.
  • All the mesh elements were released @Sample 4.
